By far our best squad starting. All good news so far, including no Hatton on bench after his shocker lol.

Really hope Elding can provide something today and show what he has to offer like last season.

And hopefully Elding can take a leaf out of Miller's book, who came to Grimsby as a very highly praised centre back and due to a baby and time off dropped to bench for ages and come on and scored the winner and again today dropped to bench. A true proffessional who sees the bigger picture for the team.

Fantastic interverview by Ross Hannah who states that "He's not thinking about Bradford he just wants to play well for Grimsby and should Bradford be willing to let him go, then he wouldn't think twice about a permanent move to Grimsby"

Macc denied a stonewall penalty from Ponds foul and Pearson is denied by a good save. Even start.

Much better start however a very strange substitustion, Hannah off for Thanoj on, Think Thanoj is good from what i;ve seen, but are we going Elding on his own up front? or are Colbeck and neilson pushing up?
Posted by: springstomind, October 27, 2012, 4:21pm; Reply: 21
Must be a 4 3 3, especially when they're playing 3 at the back.. good ball from Thanoj to Neilson who is denied by a good save by macvclesfield keeper.

Why oh why Elding? that was absolutely poor..................
Posted by: pontoonlew, October 27, 2012, 4:24pm; Reply: 23
I'm not convinced by this change, I understand the tactics but why take off the more natural goalscorer in Hannah instead of a guy who misses chances on a completely regular basis.

As I type this Elding misses a decent chance.

Unfortunately i have to agree with both you and the managers.

Hannah is a natural finisher clearly shown by his record in recent years, however not been in this game with the three big centre backs they have.

Colbeck and Neilson pushing up will create lots of space through the centre as they have 3 at the back, thus giving space for Thanoj to thread balls to the forwards as he has done.

So i;d say pro's and cons .... but Edling does certainly need to get on the scoresheet soon as people are losing patience with his sitters

Pearson sounding superb at the moment, musn't get carried away though and forget his defending duties.

SOUTHWELL on for COLBECK

Grimsby really going for the win and so we should, they've barely had an opportunity! Eldings poor touch and misses are becoming a joke! just score you illegitimate lol

Can anybody tell me why when any opposition attacks Tondeur always goes mental and give you a hernia every week. However when we attack its just calm and casual and when listening on a radio you can hardly believe we've scored lol ?

Massively against the run of play, really flipping annoying and now you have to look at the missed chances now (i'm looking at you Elding!!)

FGR 1-1 with Luton, Newport losing still!  Typical, we need to make our own luck.

It's games like this that will keep Town down. We take control but can't get the goal, we then seem to concede after the spell of pressure passes. With such a good defence and Pearson/Pond looking so in control I can't fathom why we are constantly so susceptible to quick breaks time and again.
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 27, 2012, 4:46pm; Reply: 41
Surely we have to go all out now, We had the chance to close the gap today, Town never do it the easy way do they ?

Neilsen sent off! Don;t get it, but that will hurt us for the next few games 3 match ban now! FFS

We're bugga'd for the 3 games without Nielsen  :-/

Home comes Soares. We can;t afford to have Artus on the left for three games, just does no suit him.

Defeat but cannot moan about the penalty.  If anything we could be critical about the finishing then again the keeper had a "worldy".

Keep the faith, it will turn around.

Having an absolute nightmare at Blundell park, on the bright side still in fifth and 6 from top, so nothing changes form before the game, other than the Neilson ban and macclesfield gaining on us.

Would love to know what the sending off was actually for. What happened is what happens every game. Scrappy foul and two arsey players. No violence and deffo not a serious foul...very poor.

Penalty seemed harsh too considering he missed a flipping blatant one in the first half.

Serious foul play , 3 game ban according to the beeb,

Worth an appeal ?

Only if we want the ban extended to a 4 game ban.

If that was serious foul play we might as well give up now. The foul wasn't even worth a yellow. Very poor. You'd certainly have a strong case for appeal.

FGR losing to Luton kind of did us a favour. We still hang on to 5th place.
