Feel sorry for miller personally I think Pearson should be on the bench and wait his turn, this sends out the wrong signal what else does miller have to do to keep his place.

Don't agree with that. Pearson and Pond are the best centre back pairing and there is no sentiment in football if you want to succeed. Miller is a professional and has to accept this.

As for Elding. It could be the beginning of the end for him i think. He has had plenty of games recently and doesn't look like he will ever score. Think someone said he was hauled off on Saturday after he backed out of a 50-50. S&H won't stand for no goals and no effort too.

Well I wouldn't blame miller if he leaves put yourself in miller shoes how would you feel.  I agree pond and Pearson have been good but this is sending out the wrong signal to miller saying he's nothing more than a backup player.

Unless there is a yawning gap in ability between Pearson and Miller, which there isn't, i think its very harsh on Miller, even allowing for the fact that Pearson has been one of our star performers this season.
What happens if Pond decides he doesn't want to extend his loan beyond Christmas? you have a  very good, but probably de-motivated player returning, feeling distinctly second choice.
Many will disagree, but i feel Pearson, despite his great form, should have to wait his turn, just as Miller has this season.

Perhaps although it's not like Pearson "lost the shirt" through any poor perfomance.

Seconded that's exactly what I think it's called favouritism and bad management, like you said if pond doesn't want to stay and miller wants to leave then what we have Pearson and ford and will have to get another player or loanee in.

Fair point, but you could argue that Miller lost the chance of a start to the season because of his absence due to  his Mrs  apparently having a few problems with her pregnancy, thats not his fault either - really hard one to call, as i have said, Pearson has been in great form, but his tendancy to accumulate daft bookings  got him suspended, anyway  its great that we have 3 of the best centre backs in the league and whoever plays  - UTM!

Seems silly that JT is slating McKeown when he's single handedly won numerous games for us this season and been fantastic. Long way to go and i think fitness will show second half after Scott gives some hairdryer treatment.

Town have not turned up so far, seemingly thinking it was a gimme

Would be just like Town to lose to a team they should brush aside. Down the bottom, 3 wins all season, rookie goaly and they are all over us.

We need to get it together here, but I don't think the composure is being helped by Tondeur's tone. No need to f***ing panic. Hope we can go easy on McKeown for his very rare mistake. He's been brilliant.

Can't think why people are questioning Thanoj coming on for Niven. We need someone to open them up and Niven is not that player. He's ok in a tight away game when we are defending a lead but at 2 down we had to get someone on who can create something, Besides, Niven sounded like he was having a shocker, giving the ball away constantly, which is not good to a footballing side like Hyde.

Just hope they start to tire second half and we capitalise.

Have to agree. Thanoj is one of the best passers of the ball in the league. In some respects he is harder for teams to defend against than say Niven...

It looks as if we have no fire-power up front, bar Hannah.

Of more relevance, is this is the third abysmally poor performance and result that we have had in the league this season against teams at the bottom. A pattern of managerial, character and/or under-estimating the opposition?

Assuming we stay at the top,  when the pressure increases at the end of the season, there might be more similar performance and results.

Better second half but why do we go totally kamakaze when we get level?

We sounded so much better to get back to 2-2 and had some good chances to go ahead.

Don't know the answers I'm afraid but don't understand why we can't kill off these bottom teams, maybe they raise their games but we should expect that.

Disappointing to say the least, but not the end of the world - we must get our act together though in time for saturday!

Pearson's well off the pace, Southwell not a game changer and Elding sulking. Colbeck can't cross most of the time,  McKeown gifting goals while an 18 yr old has a solid game, no midfield or composure drive to gather us together when we invariably lose our shape and we're still susceptible to the break. Something has to change.

Not sure but is it another slow start ?

I'd have taken 1 win from those 2 away games and the unbeaten away run wasn't gonna last forever.

Dress it up all you like, that's a crap result.

Second from bottom, 3 wins all season, lost their top scorer and goaly just before kick off and they play us off the pitch for 45 mins giving us too much to do.

The latest in a string of poor results against lowly sides. Wrexham show the way to do it.

Have to admit  i have never thought we have the adaptability in our squad to get promotion this season, desperately want to be proved wrong, but this result from a personal point of view makes me realise just how low we have dropped - 10 or 12  years or so ago i was one of many Grimsby based players who played for Louth Utd - we played Hyde at Hyde and gave them a very good game, i now see them beating my club, a club with 2 FA Cup semi final appearances many years ago,one still  a record attendance at Old Trafford, a club with 2 Wembley wins not that many years ago, a club with league titles not that many years ago, but a club that has been embarrassed by seemingly no-hopers  so many times in the past 3-4 year that it almost makes you want to cry.
I d'ont know what the rest of this season will bring, but there seems to be no end to despair  and frustration for our supporters  and god knows they have been loyal in the face of regular embarrassment- and before anyone reminds me, i know we are still in the play-off positions, i just despair.

At present no,simply because liam hearn is twice the player as any striker we have at the club at present,as for pearson and miller me personally i wouldnt of changed it as miller is just as good as pearson. Why change a winning side? What must the player think? had a decent game won away and then gets replaced? asking for problems doing things like that, we are not a man utd were players will be happy to sit on the bench, in this division players can soon look elsewere and get 1st team football.

Problem is our home form of late. We're either scoring for fun at home and chucking away games, like last season, or playing like frightened rabbits in the headlights at home and throwing games away while winning on the road. Right now we're chucking games away both home and away.
Needs sorting by the end of November and get ourselves straightened out for Xmas and New Year.

bloody rubbish, set up wrong tactically from the start, should of kept the same team no player has the right to walk straight back into the side and especially to replace a top player such as miller.that result was a insult to the great support there again from town tonight,

Tactically wrong how?

Dress it up all you like, that's a crap result.

Second from bottom, 3 wins all season, lost their top scorer and goaly just before kick off and they play us off the pitch for 45 mins giving us too much to do.

The latest in a string of poor results against lowly sides. Wrexham show the way to do it.

Abso-f***ing-lutely spot-on. Totally agree. No hiding from that.

Yeah I know.

ginny Wrexham got lucky 1-0 down when they got an extra man and the game turned.
We were unlucky and a slow start didn't help.
Sorry but do people seriously expect to win EVERY game ?!

Wrexham were lucky and we were unlucky? That's bowlocks. We never crush lowly teams, even when they go down to ten men.

I think our players attitudes are wrong against the lowly sides. Think they are expecting to win.

Poor start has cost us, although we didn't get anything from it, to get back to 2-2 is a positive, the fact we cant go on and win is not good enough.
Pearson and Pond are the best CB pairing we have, but should've stuck with Miller, why change a winning side?

We really need to get someone in to play alongside Hannah.

The problem with relying on your defence to win games for you is that, when they inevitably have an off day from time to time, you don't tend to get results. At present, when the defence plays badly we lose, because our attackers aren't scoring enough goals to bail them out at any point.

That said, I suppose we did score another couple away from home tonight but it wasn't enough due to defensive errors. I think the main problem is simply that we really aren't that good at the moment - even when we get a result, it is rarely a convincing performance. All too often, the post-match comments from the managers seem to be that we didn't play well but they then go on to comment on the plus points from the performance. At some point we need to actually start playing well if we're going to have a hope of automatic promotion!

We have a decent keeper and a good defence (off-days aside), an average midfield and a weak forward line (Hannah aside). The way we are playing, finishing in the play-offs is about the most we can hope for unless the midfield or supporting strikers can up their game quite a bit.

What a crock of shite, are you seriously saying that if Miller was on the pitch we wouldn't have conceded the first two goals and they were both Pearson's fault?

Agree. I think lots of people need to face facts.

Don't think it is.
Don't let Hyde's league position fool you - unbeaten in 6 at home, won their last 3.

Could well be said the same myself.
There's certainly something about these slow starts which needs sorting.

Fully agree with this, Pearson should have started on the bench and Miller given the start he deserved

Could have written that myself and the point about the defence having off day costing us was one i was about to make. The attack simply aren't good enough to punish sides and rescue dodgy situations. Promotion winning sides will have a few wins in the season when they come back from the dead to win. They will constantly bombard a team 'til they break. We don't have that momentum in the side.

Think we desperately need a striker to play alongside Hannah, because Cook Elding and Pearson aren't cutting it. Think we need more goals from midfield too.

I presume you are including tonights game and the FA cup results in that because thats the only way its unbeaten in the last 6 at home, and if so they havn't won the last three because they drew with Harrogate in the Cup before us, and they drew 2 out of the last 3 league games at home before that.

We are still in the play offs but its obvious that the team still needs tweaking in order to stay there, we have three strikers on the books who are totally useless, putting pressure on the rest of the team to do their job
Posted by: Meza, November 6, 2012, 10:26pm; Reply: 269
I'm the same and said it in other threads I'm not saying that miller would have made a difference we will never know he might have scored from a corner, my worry is that the managers are favouring Pearson over Miller when Miller has earnt the right to play so I agree with hook line and sinker that doing things like that causes animosity, and dressing room starts to argue.  I definately expect several players to leave in January.  Our forward line with the exception of Hannah is showing why we are so vulnerable at the moment we don't seem to be spanking many teams at the moment.

Still you can't win them all but there is something definately wrong with the way the duo approach games i think they need to learn more motivational team talks and get them fired up.

Unbeaten in their last 6 in all comps.
Won their last 3 in the league.
Talk about splitting hairs, do you have a point or are you just arguing for the sake of it ?

Can we also say that Hyde were a  part time team, struggling in the league, that lost their top scorer and best player, plus their goalkeeper  in the warm up before the game, but still beat us!

Knew things were too good to be true...we all thought it would be an easy win and the opposite occurred. Such a hard league to predict-no matter who you play! Roll on Saturday...

arguing for the sake of it, you said "unbeaten in last 6 at home, won the last 3", and again they havn't won the last 3 at home, nor have they won their last 3 games.

If you gonna post facts to try and make things look positive at least get them right, or word them right, not all comps for one thing and league for another without mentioning what you mean

oh and I am not being negative about tonight, read my previous I have written tonight off as one of those nights every team has, move on.

Posters on here keep going on about how Miller should have started because of last Saturday. The fact remains that Pearson and Pond have been the central pairing in a defence that has been argueably one of the best in this league thus far. It was always going to be a tough decision and it's easy for posters to say it was wrong BUT it wasn't their decision to make. For what it's worth I think it was right to play Pearson and from what I can gather from the match feed-back none of the goals were down to him.
I notice we also have posters on the match thread having a go at The Dynamic Duo and doubting their ability. This is the same management team that have turned this team around in a relatively short time. Yes , I know there are still some areas for improvement but we are in a play-off position and could so easily have gone top last night or consolidated our position. This is a wide open league with no obvious team turning in excellent performances week in , week out. We are still in touch with the top spot and a lot can happen before the end of the season.

Thanks for pointing that out again I never would have known.

Perhaps we need someone on here to point out spelling mistakes.
Then they could give a whopping lecture on the "facts" of every mis-spelt word every time someone forgets to press a key.
What do you think good idear ?

What are you on about. Spelling has nothing to do with it. I was merely pointing out that Hyde had not gone unbeaten in their last 6. Its easy enough these days to check results
