Hannah and Hearn up top. Cook goes off with groin injury.

Question why did McKweon not put it over the stand if he was so out of his goal
Posted by: RoboCod, November 2, 2013, 3:33pm; Reply: 26
Just the latest drab game with little of footballing quality where we fail to hold the initiative. I can barely hold my interest in listening to it, how can the team from last year have slid so far backwards, it's so predictable and unexciting.

JT said McKeown sliced his clearance....disappointing to say the least given our start and their recent form

Isn't Betsy one of those players who always seems to like playing against us too? :-/

Feel the same way. Missed the last 2 home games and even the Scunny match hasn't whet my appetite enough to want to go back.

We need new management and ideas.

Worryingly this seems to be quite a widespread feeling at present. We are playing in the same style as our manager and it is hard work to enjoy it. Not sure that changing the manager is right just yet but it does feel like he's a caretaker manager at present. He needs to present a more positive attitude and hopefully that will feed through into the performances. I said before that the Scunny match may be make-or-break for him which is daft when we are sat handily in this division. But the football is pretty poor and that will eventually feed through into the results. I don't see him lasting the season unfortunately.

Problem with Hurst is he's not a brave manager. The guy just seems to ooze pessimism, last nights 'battle cry' for the next days game is some gumph about how Woking are in a false league position...ok, it's false, let's put them mid-table where apparently they 'should' be. We're still way above that position and knocking on the play-offs door. He's dull and most certainly in my eyes not a winner.

A win today will only paper over the cracks regarding management IMO

Listening on Radio Surrey it sounds a bit grim... Defending well, Thomas blocking what sounded like a certain goal a few minutes ago...  But constant pressure from Woking.
Great to hear the Town fans though; don't know how many are there but they are making the most noise.
Come on Town!!!

I feel as a town fan as every single day goes by a little of my passion and actually the reasoning for me giving a toss about us seems to drain from me..

we are what I would call boring right through from the manager to the toilets.

the thought of colbeck and hatton making the team each week bores the excrement out of me.

I'd sum it up as brilliant result, awful, awful game. Can see us coming unstuck the lower placed teams with displays like that.

Still, let the whole "This win could now see us kick on" reports begin ! 8)

Disagree Pete. Hurst says the same - that everyone thinks we're brilliant when we win. But in reality we all just breathe a sigh of relief and move on to the next game. It's great to win and keep us up there but they need to do well next week against Scunny for the crowd to really get behind the manager and players. Unfortunately a win away at Woking should be a foregone conclusion to many supporters - and there lies Hurst's problem.

Can't go wrong with "win" and Farrah" in his name.   :)

We have made ground on Cambridge and others.  Even if we were fortunate today.

It my fault for suggesting this week that Disley and Kerr are too old and slow to support the strikers (and by implication, score themselves).

As much as I like Paul I tend to agree. He'd make a great assistant to a Mills, Burr, Mellon etc etc IMO. Cant see Fenty getting rid with us sitting 4th in the league though.

Jeez imagine the vibe on here if we were in the bottom half of the table! We won with a makeshift midfield, it's not really surprising we were lacking fluency.

I think he meant it more in the sense that we were missing our best 2 wingers and McLaughlin, so it was never going to be a particularly balanced or creative performance as nearly all our creative players are injured atm!

Nothing sniffed, more like memories of Mansaram, Nimmo(?) and others, thrown into the fray. Giving him a few minutes at the end is much more responsible management though , to be fair.
