No, as the PA box has no way of editing the live gantry feed,
It will show hopefully replays at half time and maybe the live pre kickoff game if allowed

It's already here. Boy Scouts are in training understand it's going to be a bit retro with the lads hanging numbers on hooks at half time like in the 60s
And if your too young to know what I mean ask your dad

There could be something in that. They used to have one in the corner but have taken it and replaced it with a smaller one when when they filled that corner in with seats:

The steel frame at BP looked about the right size to house something like that anyway.

Well we bought their floodlights once so there is a precedence and it will be used to the sea air. Maybe a tangerine machine will brighten things up. As for displaying the score, I find I actually know the score during the game and as for the time, well my watch does a pretty good job. Score flashes from other games would be good, but then the guy near me keeps us all informed via his iPhone . Come to think of it, why do we need a scoreboard?

I think the scoreboard is more useful for showing the game time than the actual score. Saves looking at your watch every few minutes.

As you say there is advertising potential there, especially if it is a 'big screen' with moving pictures, etc.

The picture is of one panel. The board is roughly 4meters wide by 3 meters high ( 12 panels)
There is an outside chance it will not be ready though for Sat due to the complexity of the install also hindered by the weather

Technical issues have prevented the installation. We are hoping to have this resolved in time for Cambridge however nothing in life seems to go easily or be straight forward!!

Once up the board will have substantial capability that far exceeds its predecessor however again the software that runs the board has several complex issues that means small bite sized steps need to be taken. By the end of the season we hope to have something rather special in place that supporters can be proud of.

The company that we have purchased the board from are in the process of designing new software, this means that operational control of the new board will be simplified. As with any software design progress is always slow.

Well to be fair - if you couldn't / wouldn't change the battery in the clock, or heaven forbid replace it, then we didn't have much confidence in a whole new super duper scoreboard working this side of Christmas.

I sometimes think it would be a complete waste of time and money for a new stadium if the same hit and miss attitude prevails.

Sorry you misunderstand, it will be functioning as a scoreboard however the additional functions like previous match highlights, animations for goals, substitutions and many other functions will take time to build. This is a full colour scoreboard that also offers commercial opportunities for the club.

Hmmm, why on earth is new software required? Surely there must be existing packages out there that do what is required, without the need for significant testing. Seems utter madness and expensive to develop new....

Despite the club losing money hand over fist every year I think we are very lucky to have such a modern scoreboard and GTFC should be commended. Hopefully it is ready in time to stream the FA Trophy and Play-Off Final for those who can't make it!

Will that be possible or is there absolutely no chance of the scoreboard providing live coverage of matches?

Last Sat, from the infrastructure (built so far), I thought that the scoreboard looked a bit on the low side and was not easy to see from some seats in the UF.

The previous scoreboard  was easy to see for home fans.  Although the "time played" shown and even the opposing team were not always accurate. Maybe this was just old age and "character" developing?   :)
