Stuck at work & this is really rubbing it in !!

We've been poo for 2 months, Cambridge away in the league aside. I'm not sure, apart from tinkering, what has been done to remedy it. Our central midfield needs refreshing and that's been obvious since Christmas.

Bottlers at home or poor tactics?

Please don't mention Bird and Hurst in the same sentence Mr Tondeur. It just gives me an image of Hurst looking at Birds name on a piece of paper with the words available, and Hurst furrowing his brow, shrugging and binning said piece of paper.

Feeling a bit better after the goal but that first half still sounded as bad as anything since we landed in this division. Big improvement needed second half because I can see Cambridge getting another

Goal came from a big McKeown free kick into the box and was a great finish. We've woken up a bit since scoring (LJL carved a good chance out for himself but as usual spooned over), however up until then we've been utter excrement. Neilson's the only player looking remotely up for it today. Rodman has been dire.

Agree, he says people should not get on the slow start band wagon and get behind the team,

Well Paul, if you told the players to start at a faster tempo instead of being slow and steady,

The home fans would get behind the team from the start and put fear into the opposition ,

Grab the game by the balls at the start of a game and our home form will improve.

Hannah is one of the least intelligent strikers we've ever had (at least that I've seen). He might be a sniffer but he simply does not understand the offside rule which nullifies all of our momentum.

Get Tonk on.

Are LJL, Kerr and Disley still playing?
Posted by: HackneyHaddock, February 22, 2014, 4:46pm; Reply: 72
Not sure what Hurst has against Neilson, who always seems to get subbed at this stage in the game.  I'm not sure I buy this "he isn't fit" thing either.  Neilson's always been "unfit" or "carrying timber" or whatever.  If he's a professional athlete, she should be fit, unless he's some sort of Ledley King who can now only ever be used sparingly.

I don't think that's the case though and fear that the more likely reason is that Hurst is still wedded to some of the worst long-ball traits of Rob Scott.  We see this with the repeated late introductions of Cook, which usually heralds the start of a desperate Lincoln-esque hoofball assault.  I hope I'm wrong.
Posted by: cmackenzie4, February 22, 2014, 4:49pm; Reply: 73
Surely you have to keep Neilson on the pitch in such an important game. Some decisions Paul makes are baffling!
Posted by: Madeleymariner, February 22, 2014, 4:50pm; Reply: 74
The worst thing is we could have won something this year but slow starts in both games have stopped us.

Didn't surprise me - the manager can only blame himself - he didn't learn from the previous 2 games and only offered predictability in a one off cup game that would have been very lucrative, had they won :-/

I'm deflated but to be honest i was expecting us to go out, We have to make the playoffs now,

We have to re-group and improve, We need to Get at teams from the off, the lack of goals is worrying!

I think this will do more harm to the players going out at this stage..... humberside kept on going on about we have no quality,, suprize suprize,, we are non league . i doubt we will make the playoffs either,,we are well short center mid and up front
Posted by: RoboCod, February 22, 2014, 5:06pm; Reply: 84
Glad wer'e finally out, but not at all happy with the current situation. If we start games like this, and there's no sign of it stopping, or even being acknowledged by Hurst, we can and will lose to anyone in this division. Don't see us winning 4 games in hand, we'll probably average 6 or 7 points from them (possible less) but even 7 points will only just bring us level with Alfreton!
Usual end of season flop ahead of us, would love to feel more positive.
Posted by: louth_in_the_south, February 22, 2014, 5:25pm; Reply: 85
With the strikers we've got we'll do well to make the play offs . We probably won't lose many but we won't win many , the season fizzling out in a succession of draws unless we get 2 strikers in on loan who pose a threat in front of goal . If it means loaning out a couple of our ineffective 4 some I'd do it
Posted by: Chrisblor, February 22, 2014, 5:26pm; Reply: 86
Neilson was constantly getting hold of the ball and running at their defence causing problems before he was subbed off. He is definitely not unfit - Hurst just has his favourites who stay on regardless of how poorly they play *cough*Rodman*cough*

At one point Fyfield was hunched over with his hands on his thighs looking knackered, yet stayed on for the full 90 minutes...

Disappointing result and I really hope it doesn't demotivate the lads further as we do seem to be on a bit of a downer at the moment. Hope they can just focus on getting back into the play-offs and, of course, getting promoted this season.
