Team.
Macca
Thomas
Boyce
Pearson
Hatton
Mclaughlin
Thanoj
Disley
Rodman
Hannah
John lewis

Neilson dropped for mclaughlin and hannah for jennings.

Not too happy about neilson, would have liked to see mclaughlin in central midfield.

Bit surprised Neilson is not in the starting 11-is he possibly being rested? However, I am glad Jennings is out. Has done hardly anything and has not impressed me at all

Hmm. Disappointed Nielson is rested but can see the logic in it given another game on Saturday I guess. Pleased Paddy is back in, but not in his best position I assume, unless we are going to play three centre midfielders and Rodman behind the front two. Obviously LJL is recalled even though he's not fully fit according to Hurst, so can't really understand why Cook isn't continuing. F*** knows what Hurst is trying to do with Cook's confidence but he probably doesn't know if he's coming or going. Jennings must be in need of a rest as much as he's in need of a goal, and Hannah ought to be chomping at the bit. All in all, mixed feelings. Lets hope it pays off.

I know. You could argue that we won the last game and kept a clean sheet. Only one change is forced, but Hurst has made 4 in all.

I can't see what choice he has, this is a mad few weeks of closely bunched up games. Plenty of options on the bench for the attacking line up. And Neilson with fresh legs on as sub should be very effective.
Posted by: jonnyboy82, April 1, 2014, 7:39pm; Reply: 13
If town win then hurst deserves the credit,  if we lose I hope he has the balls to explain his decision.

Re cook, I personally think he has destroyed his confidence and a potentially decent striker for us.

Oh well, all change again but I suppose we have a lot of games coming up in a short space of time -PH knows best.

I don't really get it. I remember in the 70s 3 games in 4 days over Easter and the pitches were gruelling. I think we still won them all. Players like playing. Just hope these changes are justified

Probably been one of our best players in the past few weeks. Coincidence that he seems to have done much better when he's had the opportunity since Fyfield signed? Amazing what a bit of competition can do..

4 wins in 6 and 2 defeats in 9, we're doing alright. Good few days, let's hope the players grasp this new found confidence and go on to the next game and put in another performance! Winning on Saturday has the fillip of essentially ruling a rival team out of the running for the play-offs.

Wel played Grimsby Town. 1-0 away from home is always gonna be a great result against anyone. This however was a much better performance and will give confidence. Especially with the move up to third. The manager seems to have selected a good balance tonight.
Very pleased to see Thanoj and Paddy start and gutted Hannah did not score. Feeling for the hard working lad.
Now need Halifax to draw with Braintree on Thursday although I predict Halifax will beat a tiring Braintree side. How do those Essex part timers keep winning!!

Little bit of a concern that we've only managed to score one goal again, and yet another match without a striker scoring, but back to back clean sheets and 1-0 victories and a big, big 3 points. Especially pleased for Paddy, who has struggled with a niggling injury for a lot of the season and has also been frozen out of the team for the most part, but comes back in and scores a great goal. Well done Town, and especially to the 130+ Town fans who were there. Even though some of our shortcomings are still very evident, these hard-fought, ugly wins have given us a platform that just wasn't there some weeks ago.

I can think of several matches we ought to have won. Imagine how the table would've looked then...
Southport home, Macclesfield away, Southport away, Forest Green away, Luton Home.
13 more points and we would have been up close to Luton.
A mixture of bad luck and blunders lost us these points.
The point is.. We are not that far away from being a very good team!

You can look at it the other way were we could of easily drawn or lost, ie Woking away last min winner Wrexham the other week at home, it has evened it self out a bit as the season has gone on. Am happy with a playoff place just hope we can do a lot better in them this time. I think the league is poor this year going by other years this is the easiest.

Are they resting for the playoffs? Letting the rest of the team carry them, lull our opponents into a false sense of security only for them to spark over the final three games including at Wembley? Now that'd be a carlsberg sponsorship moment.

They can't have been too tired last night to win 4-0 at Southport. I think they are a real threat, and they seem to be doing what Kiddi and Mansfield did last year. I just hope we don't need a result at their place on the last day of the season.

That said, 66 points with 8 matches to go is a great position to be in. You would think that 12 more points would be enough, so four wins and four defeats will do, but I fancy us to do better than that.

Just checked and last year we were on 66 points after 39 games, so we are slightly ahead of last seasons points.

Sixth place finished on 70 points last year. It looks like it will be higher than that this time round.

Yeah, but 5th spot, the one that matters, was 80 points last year, so 79 would have still not been enough for the play offs.

I think 78 or possibly even as low as 76 will get 5th spot this season.
