It's not exactly a surprise so far. Launching in the general direction of John Lewis, giving the ball away cheaply and not really looking a threat. It needs to be much better than this or it'll be just like last year in the play offs. We look very short of ideas and a team without a method hoping something might turn up.

My sentiments exactly !!

For a player of his size and height, he`s contributed very little. He just aimlessly wanders around letting other players do all the work.
Lazy player today.

I'll predict that in the second half there will be lots of huffing and puffing from town with no end product, then we will get caught with a sucker punch 2nd goal. typical town

Thanoj and Tonk on for the front 2, match them up in midfield with Tonks pace
Posted by: Lincoln Mariner 56, May 4, 2014, 5:29pm; Reply: 79
Story of the season so far a total lack of pace from town especially in midfield, lewis passing poor and poses no goal threatvwhilst Hannah sneaks around without contributing anything. Boyce MOM so far and Doig looks fine but no threat going forward. Why when midfield are struggling goes Nielson not tuck in for ten minutes and help out?

Hope they prove me wrong but at the minute we are going down without a whimper, I would bring Tonka on to give us some strength up top hopefully he can get and hold the ball up but probably get token minutes once we are two down.

Be positive Paul its now or never mate

Be fair defence has done little wrong with Boyce and Doig both doing well especially given lack of protection Kerr and Disley provide. Must be great having a midfield that can actually run around!

P!ssed off big time. Unable to go to Gateshead, I ended up going to the Imperial, where Man United fans sang / chanted Gateshead before the game even kicked off. Annoyed me big time, I had to leave before I got my head kicked in for mouthing off at them all. Tell ya, never have I felt like fighting in my life, but those so called Man U fans, p!ssed me off big time a kick in would of been worth it. And then Gateshead go and score to make things worse. God I hate pride-less tossers.  :-/

no compliants, ill discipline from Hatton who should never play for us again.  How the intercourse a seasoned pro like that makes not just one but two ridiculous challenges in no mans land is just a disgrace.

Yes it was a bad red card on Scott, but we were insipid for 60 minutes and that stems from the manager.

All in all a massive let down for a hardy bunch of fans who deserve so much better than that.

Only GTFC could contrive a defeat like that.

Hurst can intercourse right off now and get a more progressive manager in. I said when Scott went, we should have got rid of Hurst too and got Mills in.

Boring pointless hoofball with strikers who are nowhere near good enough for this football club. I am willing to bet that more than half of our games this season have finished without the strikers getting on the score sheet.

Unfortunately poor ref decisions will give PH the excuses he needs. Lets hope Cambridge win as why should the league want to accept a team that cannot muster 1000 home fans whilst the likes of Bristol Rovers, wrexham, town and many more ex football league clubs who actually have decent crowds home and away play in this god forsaken league.

It should be wholesale changes with only Pearson and Mckeown retained, appreciate others may have contracts but nobody I want to watch next year.

We were poor today yes, but I think that had McKeown not had a Colgan moment and Neilson not been sent off, they probably wouldn't have scored - their goals came because we had 9 men and the first one was obvioulsy McKeown's member up.

Probably because they are team mates and stand by each other.....Hurst has an excuse for 45 mins of this tie.......we were never consistent enough to win the league which is what you have to do to guarantee to get out of this league and for the second time we were not good enough over two legs of a two legged tie.
First tie although dominant we did not create enough goalscoring opportunities, that has cost us more than anything. Neilson was unlucky, Hurst cannot be blamed for that but at least that brought some fight out in us which Hurst could not inspire, Hatton was stupid, Hurst cannot be blamed for that either really.
We wasted the first 45 mins today by sitting off, Mckeown fvcked up, Hurst cannot be blamed for that.

Without the sendings off who knows as they didnt particularly threaten with the tip tappy football they had and we may have ultimately succeeded.

We have the summer merry go round to look forward to now, new squad, new manager (probably, by xmas at least).

A fan within our team or do you think hes a genuinely good right back because I just don't see how you can think that, even when he's good hes never great, Bignot not great either but when hatton lost his place and bignot first came in don't think there was any qualities hatton brought that we missed. He's too slow and often his balls forward are too high and slow so he ends up giving it away alot. Really his main flaw is telegraphing his passes.

There has been to many players in our team who can have 1 good game but then very average for the next 3 or 4 games and that has cost us!  Lack of consistency and not ruthless enough in the final third, out of interest who is our top scoring striker?  There lies part of our problem!

I agree we haven't been ruthless enough, but the scoreline definitely flatters them because they didn't actually have any chances before Neilson was sent off.

For me the only striker we've got that's worth keeping is Tounkara and he's not even our player; I'd keep all the centre backs, Thomas, Rodman, McKeown, Neilson, Kerr, Thanoj, McLaughlin, and Disley. But this is totally dependent on who's in charge and who they want to keep for a potential change of system.

In my opinion I would keep Hurst because there's not really anyone realistically we can get with a much better record than Hurst - the cup success this year shouldn't be forgotten for example, there aren't many non-league teams who get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, and we were so close to beating Huddersfield. We have been incredibly frustrating this year, but be careful what you wish for - if we get someone in like Burr to play passing football, people will move from moaning about boring football to moaning about trying to walk it into the net like we had under Buckley. The grass isn't always necessarily greener on the other side!

Surprised to see all the blame being thrown around and McKeown escaping it. I thought he was poor in the first leg, he basically had 3 things to do all night yet didn't move for the goal, mis-controlled a back pass and whacked it into touch then rushed off his line like an idiot but got away with it (that time). Maybe it's the constant stream of rubbish we've had between the sticks that makes us think he's world class but I do wonder just how much better than Hedge he is, especially of late.

Soft goal conceded started the rot, ridiculous red card, stupid challenge/red card, wonder goal and finally a roll into an empty net to take the p**s. Never a dull moment in Town games.

But it happens all too often Tom. If's and But's and what might have been. We lost that tie on Thursday, with our inability to score when we were on top. Teams seem to score against us from very few chances. Every shot flies in yet we never hit shots like that. Our strikers are rubbish, no getting away from that and Hurst signed them and coaches them.

I agree with you  there Robocod, I would like to see Hedge have a few starts next season,it might keep Macca on his toes.. Mckeown is a good shotstopper but his overall keeping leaves something to be desired, not commanding in the box enough for me and his distribution is sometimes lacking. I was very impressed with Hedge in pre season matches.

I agree we didn't make the most of the chances we've had this season to make it much easier for ourselves, but I don't think sacking Hurst would get us anywhere. We'd just be left with Dave Moore/Chris Doig in charge until we can get our 7th choice in in early August - who would want to come here that we would actually want? We aren't going to be paying much in compensation, and there's no-one I can think of off the top of my head who is available that is any better. We'd just be stuck with one of the usual suspects like Gary Brabin or Paul Buckle who get suggested everytime a manager gets sacked at this level.

You are so right. Having been to this match and watching the recording - Justin Edinburgh said at half time all of the things, which I have stated recently on these threads, need addressing, at half time. He would have taken half time action to address the problems. Funnily enough, like a dying hamster, PH may have been right to let things continue - but then the referee intervened to make sure that the hamster wouldn't live.
