Team - McKeown, Magnay, Boyce, Nsiala, Thomas, Brown, Clay, Disley, McLaughlin, Connell, John-Lewis. Subs: Humble, Bastock, Walker, Winfarrah, Bemrose.

Good interview with McKeown on Humberside just now. He sounds frustrated we don't have a permanent goalkeeping coach yet.

No idea, but having a midfield comprised of 4 central midfielders probably isn't helping us to stretch the play.

Especially when they've got 10 behind the ball.
Games like this are a nightmare even with a 1st team out, but with this bodged up line up I fear for us tonight.

Thats the managers job though..

We might have missing players but whats out there tonight is still good enough to beat nuneaton at home.

Its about instilling that confidence in the players that they can win and not be happy to settle for a draw just because players are missing..

Paul isnt a manager what you think has that belief, even he admits it when speaking to the press..

He has rubbed off on many supporters that because of injuries a point at home to nuneaton will be a point gained..

His acceptance

I really don't think he'll be that way of thinking in this game, maybe against the bigger teams he can be too negative but nights like this we all knows it's points dropped if we don't win. Whoever we have on the pitch they'll still come and put everyone behind the ball. His options are limited and we need that bit of quality from an individual to win the game tonight.

No, if he could finish we would have 6 points from two games. He has to take some blame, as does the manager for building a team around a striker who cannot finish. His other attributes are considerably over-hyped (his heading and link up play really aren't that good) and do not make up for all the goalscoring opportunities he wastes.

Despite a long list of injuries it was by no means a reserve team out there. We all knew we are a little limited going forward but Nuneaton are favourites to finish bottom of the pile ffs. Concerning result.

Just out of interest what do you think Hurst could've done tonight to affect that result?

Picked up his P45 at the end of last season along with the striker that can't be named

Signed some decent strikers in the transfer window - most of our targets went to other clubs or couldn't be convinced to sign for us. Akinde would have been a great signing - he scored for top of the table Barnet tonight.

Sounds like best chance fell to Lenny again but didn't go to the game so can't judge too much. Nevertheless it's 2 clean sheets and our success in the last 2 seasons have been built on a solid defence. It's only the second game so anyone asking for Hurst to be sacked should hold those fears and since he can't use it then I will, we had 9 injuries. Uptm!

No, if he could finish we would have 6 points from two games. He has to take some blame, as does the manager for building a team around a striker who cannot finish. His other attributes are considerably over-hyped (his heading and link up play really aren't that good) and do not make up for all the goalscoring opportunities he wastes.

As much as I want PH & LJL to do well, it is very difficult to argue with anything you've said there.

44 more games to redeem our selves - plus we're unbeaten. Let's get these suspended players back in to action. It's a marathon not a sprint etc

Arnold, Pittmaan, Hannah, Macreth, Neilson,

All forwards,

All could have scored tonight,

BUT

All out,

So we have played 2 games and not scored,

BUT

We have not conceded and Not lost,

44 Games to play,

Please do not lose hope yet.

Right then, had we scored one goal, we'd all be saying how we dominated a game with our reserves and never looked in danger.  As it stands, we're not able to but a goal at the moment.

Sometimes, I think managers just need to try something different, something a bit out of the ordinary, something maybe counterintuitive or risky.  I'm afraid that we didn't get that tonight.  It could have been to play Bemrose up front for the last half-hour, or to have started with Winfarrah.  Anything  to just change things up a bit.  Depleted team or not, it didn't happen.

Now onto the main subject that will probably get its own thread shortly....

I'm afraid that I now have to throw in the towel on my continued defence of Lenny's presence in the team.  It's clear that PH only wants him in the team to aim long balls at.  It's not even about Lenny the player, it's about the effect that his presence has on the rest of the team.  As long as he's there, there's always an easy option for players to just hoof it up.  Remove him, and you instantly change the mindset of the rest of the team; getting them to look for short passes into feet, to go past a man, to play with their eyes up and their mind open.   I would love to know what Buckley would do if he were picking the team.

Yep desperate for some of these players back, nathan arnold is one i'd like to see, ross hannah should go straight back in if connell doesn't score before then, don't want to ruin his confidence again (or play connell and hannah because LJL is crap)

FFS get off ljl's back will you, as i remember it football is played by teams of 11 players, and you play as a team win lose or draw. So it finished 0-0 but by the sound of it no one stood out tonight, you cannot blame it on one player. Give the lad a break

Err no..

He misses chance after chance after chance and its just getting a bit of a joke now..

He should be taken out of the team now if paul has got any sense or are you in the keep him in the team brigade because he holds the ball up.

He needs to stop being first on the team sheet its not funny anymore.

Hackney haddock - finally somebody talking sense regarding ljl
He should never have been signed, let alone played. Nothing positive has come from having john lewis in the team.

Thing is the chances always fall to him, so he is doing something right.  Hes just playing the wrong game, give him an egg shaped ball and elongated goals and he will be a star  :B.  By the way Connell was hopeless tonight(nothing to work with though)

To be fair though it's not Paul's 2nd game in charge. Or Lenny's on the pitch.

Avoidance of failure is built on a solid defence. But is built on scoring more goals. If we ever do let one in, you know it's going to be an uphill struggle to win 1 let alone 3 points.

I would love to see us with a full strength team but one issue i hate is the aimless balls into no one just a waste of time, just play simple and keep playing to feet with movement not aimless balls to no one, the forwards spend to much time back to goal.

Tonight was a even more a depleted team then saturday, defense great Brown played well but having Paddy and Clay on the wings was always going to be hard, i would of played Walker at RB and Magnay on the wing for a bit of width.

There are positives from the performance.

What's not funny anymore is you continually slagging off one of our players. Using him as a scapegoat for a teams failure to score because he missed ONE chance is pathetically sad. Oh sodomist there I go again "giving it the big one"

Its not just one chance though is it?

Come on stop pretending that the amount of sitters he misses is acceptable.
