Just hope we can find a way of successfully managing his hamstring problems, coz if we can we will have probably the best striker in the conference

Good news and pleased for the lad. Don't think he's the man that's going to fire the goals to get us out of this league, but if he can make a similar/better impact than he did last season then he'll be a good player to have in the squad. Still looking forward to seeing who PH has up his sleeve.

Good news. Technically, one of the best players at the club for me, if he can stay fit of course.

Great news, scored some great goals and gives 100 percent all the time, fits right into the Hurst philosophy.  Happy Mariner here.

Pleased to have him onboard for next season, he'll have a point to prove too. I'd love to see him playing off the shoulder of the last defender. He isn't the best at holding the ball up and bringing others into play but I believe he is was the best finisher at the club last season.

I appreciate money is tight but a proper S&C coach would repay his wages several times over with preventitive injury training. Just not something a Conference level club would do and even at the top level some clubs pay lip service to it because most managers are ignorant towards it's benefits.' Never had it in my day' syndrome

We've got a keeper, centre mid and striker now from last  season. Just Pearson and we've got the spine of the team  :)

Exactly!

I'd go as far as saying investing in staff like this would mitigate the risk of having a smaller squad.

How many players last year were continually plagued by niggles and muscle strains?  I know Croudson used to do a bit of fitness work with the players, is anyone aware if we replaced this role or was it just taken on by another in the building, i.e Dave Moore?

The signing itself is excellent news.  Huge fan of Pittman and, for me, we always looked better with him in starting eleven.

Great news.

JPP and LJL are a pretty strong front pairing.

Didn't Slade have one here for a while? Tony Whiteman?

Very pleased he has signed a new deal. Thank you john Paul. I think the reaction he got from the supporters at wembley when he came over at the end showed what us fans feel about him and the club right now. That and a sense of wanting another crack at promotion and wanting to erase that penalty miss from his memory will have had a small factor in him signing I feel. A good striker to have on our books for next year. :)

I thought his form was a little indifferent at times but if he could maintain his fitness for much of the season, he's certainly capable of scoring 20+ goals. Ten goals from 20 starts wasn't that bad.

Earlier on in the season his understanding with LJL was very good and they looked a really threatening pairing. If LJL stays and they can rekindle this, they could be a very potent duo. We'll need a couple of other strikers scoring goals off the bench as well and more goals from out wide and set pieces will also be necessary.

Ben is more a therapist specialising in rehabilitation isnt he? More a massage man?

I was talking about a S&C professional who works more in prevenitive training programmes. I read somewhere that the season before last Crawley had a proper accredited S & C coach do all their pre season training and hardly had any players injured at any time over the season. The best in th FL at the time

10 goals in your first season isn't bad, keep injury free and that could easily be replicated next season and some.

Any club at this level (or indeed a couple of leagues up) would see a massive benefit from proper investment in sports science.

I've absolutely no ideas of the costs involved to appoint dedicated sports scientists but I would welcome it at the expense of a larger squad, mainly because you would't need as many players for those 'just in case' scenarios.

Stamina wise, Town were outstanding last year.  This was evident not only in the play-off final when Bristol Rovers looked dead on their feet (to the point of having three players go down with cramp at the same time), whereas we looked like we had another half hour of play in us, but also throughout the later stages of the season.  How many times did we grab late goals?  Compare this with previous years where we've struggled to score in the second half!  I don't remember us hanging on as much either, not in the sense of one-goal victories but in that of having everyone back to defend like mad for the final ten minutes.  That's surely in part down to having that little extra in the legs to continue to play further up field rather than retreat due to fatigue.

If we can just rule out the little niggles and strains we would be laughing!

When he was fit he was the Shops best partner, trick is obviously as other people have pointed out is keeping him fit.

Not quite sure what you mean by "in your first season", a striker is a striker and it's not as if we are his first club.

For the games he has played it is a good return but I wouldn't expect the club to sign a striker and then wait a season before he starts scoring goals.

Really enjoyed watching his goals, hope he realises he has nothing to apologise for and his seasons efforts outweigh a moment to forget. Roll on August.
