I see we have scored twenty goals so far in the pre season games three of which were against (superior) opposition, I tried to find the goal scorers totals on the home page/ season details and although I have been to all the games my memory fails me as to who and where, is there a list somewhere to have a butchers at?

I think we've scored 23, haven't we?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I make it
Amond 7
Pittman 6
Arnold, Bogle, Clay, Wroot 2
East, Marshall 1

If 3 have scored 2 each, then that makes up the 23 total goals !

That's how I read the list ??

In detail...

Cleethorpes 4 goals (Amond 2, Pittman, Bogle)

Derby 2 (Amond, Clay)

North Ferriby 2 (Arnold, Pittman)

Gainsborough 3 (Arnold, Amond 2)

Huddersfield 3 (Arnold, East, Bogle)

Brigg 6 (Pittman 3, Amond, Wroot 2)

Notts County 3 (Pittman, Marshall, Amond)

23 goals in total.

Amond 7
Pittman 6
Arnold 3
Wroot 2
Bogle 2
Marshall 1
East 1
Clay 1

Arnold has 3 and Clay 1 rather than 2 each.

So, apart from East's free kick, where are the set piece goals from the defenders?????

Have we signed greedy free scoring strikers this year ???

Will Pearson, Nsaila or Gowling bother to go up for corners and set pieces ??

Is Disley saving himself for the league games ??

Seriously though, what a change from seasons gone by, reliance on Connell as a sole scorer, Lenny getting to 20 last season, it would be good to find two, or even three, Town strikers on the top goal scoring league listings!

Pittman may be hard to drop if he stays fit for longer this season !

What a superb subs bench could be on the cards - releasing any of Bogle, Pittman or Amond from the bench when defenders are tiring - what a choice to have to make !

It's also good to see: -

1. The obvious set up easy tap in goals being made - no egos to miss sitters.
2. Players not afraid to shoot from distance if a clear opportunity arises.
3. Players eager to pounce on loose balls in the penalty area at speed.

It's as if there has been a major training programme on penalty area awareness and spacial placing of players, so that automatic passes are more accurately made at speed - the whole team seem to be so much more comfortable with the ball at their feet, not chasing loose punts.

Where have all of the boringly slow build ups from last year gone !!

It would be good to click in the league from game 1 - lots of luck to all of the players not to suffer injuries or niggles and have true competition for the 11 places this year.

Sorry Hursty - that doesn't apply to your cameo left back role !

whilst the above in bold is said tongue in cheek, thats the only slight concern, very slight that is.

our 3 centre backs are solid, but need to score more at the other end

Not if the strikers are scoring freely they don't.

Defenders are there to defend and then defend again.  If they chip in with the odd goal, bonus.

Agreed. Anyway, Pearson bagged a few last season and is always a threat. Gowling bagged one on his debut and can't have played more than ten games for us anyway! Toto isn't going to get too many I don't think but no worries there, we have goals all over the pitch.

I wonder who will be taking the penalties this season.

We haven't had one in pre-season so no indication there.

On a selfish note, I hope it Amond seeing that I've got money on him to be top goalscorer in the league.

Absolutely no real comparison to the real thing but we have scored one quarter of the goals required now that would probably ensure the title at the end of the season, makes you think

I think that both Bogle and Amond take pens so could be a battle between them to decide who gets the shout!

Something Ive noticed form bits I've seen from videos last season and this, Amonds movement off the ball is superb, Look at that goal against Notts C the other day. Where he is when Gowling kicks it and where he is by the time Pittman has controlled it. Hard as LJL worked he didn't have that instinct. :)
