Good to have a strong unchanged team at home, should look for (an) early goal(s) and make changes as necessary today  8)

I hope Amond gets one today, he's been very unlucky at times this season, missed the broad side of the barn as well at times but I think he needs a goal to get his confidence back up

4: Patient build up down the left side ends with a dangerous looking cross from Robertson that's well claimed by the keeper

9: Arnold works a good opening for the hosts but his 15-yard effort flies over the bar

15: Robertson again gets in on the left and fires across for Bogle who steers his effort just past the post

21: Excellent play from Robinson to work his way into the box and tees up Arnold but the shot is charged down by a defender

24: Monkhouse with a flick on for Bogle who attacks the channel but fires a left footer wide of the goal

Ok he got Bogle scored loads but in the league below...Podge is an intelligent player but wasn't used as a striker at his last club and being dropped may have hit his confidence,  then JPP has been injured so not getting that 4th Striker in earlier would have been great.

Oh well...C'mon town

32: # sub: Thomas for Smith. The keeper injured himself going up for that previous cross from Bogle

40: Lovely 1-2 with Bogle and East but Thomas palms away the lob from the Town full back

missed chances are thee responsibility of the forwards not the manager!

Being booed off at half time is harsh as we've not played too bad

Anyway 45 minutes to keep on creating chances but instead of being wasteful putting them away

They've scored with their one and only attempt yet we've squandered loads of opportunities

Come on Town - let's get back in this

Not there today so can't tell how good the chances were. However, based on my three games so far I don't think we're producing gilt edged opportunities and not sure it's the strikers at fault.
Bottom line is I still don't think we're good enough, but hope to proved wrong

We've a squad full of players with ability, but collectively they're mentally weak. I'm getting sick of watching us miss chance after chance through a lack of composure, followed by us conceding the first effort we face - usually after the defence switches off while defending a cross. Hurst needs to get the team playing with swagger and confidence, but I don't think he's capable of that.

All 5 subs on the pitch so doesn't look like they're coming on yet. For all Hurst has made changes before matches, excessively in many people's opinion, he is very slow to make subs. Too slow in my opinion.

Err actually we arent, started ok but silly defending again cost us.

Hurst just keeps clapping on the sideline.

I can't get my head around the defensive issue. We were as tight as a ducks last season but now can't keep a clean sheet. It cannot be down to Magnay's absence surely?
Posted by: toontown, September 12, 2015, 3:59pm; Reply: 61
What's also worrying is the response when we went a goal down, very flat, not much belief from crowd or players despite having created a fair few chances earlier in the game.

Qpr away circa 99. Groves scored and Zulu ward (those that know him) walked into a lamppost while being tracked by w12's finest plod
Posted by: RoboCod, September 12, 2015, 4:00pm; Reply: 63
But why do we need subs on? We're making the chances and we're controlling their attack for 99% of the game. Let's be clear, Hurst has NOT tinkered. To start demanding subs is mental, those players out there are the ones to get this right.
Posted by: Madeleymariner, September 12, 2015, 4:03pm; Reply: 64
Think the issue is the midfield not protecting the defence enough, but if we are going play an attacking game this will happen but as said if we put chances away that one goal each game does not matter

A bit of no Magnay
A bit of Macca's relatively poor form
A bit of chopping and changing of the line up
Maybe a bit of not having Makreth who's more defensive minded

Lots of small things adding up to a significant difference.

I guess you can use all the tatics and formations as much as you want but if players switch off or not doing what has been asked or even doing the basics you leave yourself open to concede goals.

Feels as though we are so close to annihilating a team.

The numbers not vastly different to each match this season:

18 shots v 4 shots

10 on target v 2

12 corners v 1 corner

...yet we've still got a sweat! Granted, we've ten mins or so left and we're not (currently) dropping points but how the h3ck have we dropped so many points.

EDIT: we've just scored another and hopefully that sees off the sweat...

3 of the top 5 scores from teams in the lower half of the table. We need Amond up there with Bogle then we'll be getting somewhere.

To be fair, he is just behind the top 5 (only 2 less than Bogle and not the penalty taker)!

We dominated that 2nd half, whatever Paul & Chris said at half time worked a treat, well done Town!

Yeh that's 3 game missed by Gowling, , will PH put him straight back in on Tuesday or will Josh have to wait for his chance?

Really do feel this is a real big month in terms of getting points on the board and getting ourselves in the mix, , a massive 14 days ahead, , keep it up Town

Hurst just keeps clapping on the sideline.

I thought he watched from the Main Stand now & Doig does the "clapping"?  :-/

Another nice pay day for Muzza. He must be loaded on his £20 on 4-1 every game tactic.

Being booed off at half time is harsh as we've not played too bad

Anyway 45 minutes to keep on creating chances but instead of being wasteful putting them away

They've scored with their one and only attempt yet we've squandered loads of opportunities

Come on Town - let's get back in this

UTM

The above was the first time I've ever posted during a game while in BP and while I know not everyone was happy with the first half I just gave an opinion on what I'd seen on the pitch so I was well pleased with the way the second half panned out in our favour

We did keep making chances and we were justly rewarded

Could have been a cricket score yesterday but 4-1 again should please everyone

Saying that I expect to get red-crossed again for having some belief in our team ;-)
