Arnold injured but should of been dropped a while ago anyway

Hopefully not a serious injury though, i think we all know how much an onform nathan arnold could benefit us

After all the doom and gloom recently the ironic thing is, if Town win and Tranmere and Braintree lose we will be guaranteed a play-off spot today.

Agree Hagrid....

I'm a bit bemused as to how someone would give a x in response.....

There's absolutely no width in the starting 11 today:

            McKeown
Tait Nsiala Gowling Horwood
Nolan Disley Clay Monkhouse
         Pittman Bogle

Well we'll see what happens I guess...

Difference between match fit and bench fit though. Its the only possible explanation for me. if he's dropped him through choice then i dont know what to say, mind boggling

There is a plan

If we win with him on the bench, he has had a rest.

If we are losing after 60 mins, he comes on and we win as he scores a hat-trick

Easy peas

Posted by: Meza, April 16, 2016, 2:40pm; Reply: 24
And this is why fans are fed up of PH.  Dropping your top scorer if fit will give Dover a little bit of confidence.  Im wondering the reason why he makes these idiotic changes is down to pressure.

Oh well fingers crossed

Truth is we don't have the information to pass judgement.

If he has a niggle, Paul Hurst is hardly going to advertise it

If there are disciplinary issues, same applies.

It's got beyond a joke of Podge is fit. I don't know what goes through the mans head. I'm past just disliking the man, he's taking all the fun out of supporting my club with his demoralising selections.
Posted by: FishOutOfWater, April 16, 2016, 2:48pm; Reply: 27
Subs : Robertson Pearson Amond East Jennings

Can't get my head around why Podge is on the bench...if injured then he shouldn't be in the 16 surely?

If not, then he just has to be starting up front
Posted by: Meza, April 16, 2016, 2:45pm; Reply: 28
Is PH doing this on purpose.  The fans want podge he drops him....the fans dont want monkhouse he plays.  The fans want fast atacking football....they play slow hoofball.  Surely he's not doing this to wind the fans up lol

Yes, not content with labelling the fans as spoilt, he's decided to stick two fingers up to those with money on Podge to finish as top scorer, the tosser.

Remember that post i put on here saying if arnold or monkhouse was to get injured paul hurst would rather put a centre midfielder out wide rather than playing stewart straker or jennings,  you know the players he bought in to cover those positions for this exact position we find ourselves in now !

The bloke doesnt trust  the players he bought in for those positions , shows how badly he spunked needless money away in the loan market.

Red cross it all you want but its beyond inept and funny now this daft bloke.

Fed up of the favourites thing again. What has Pearson done wrong? He waited a while for his chance and did well for a spell, has a bad game and gets dropped. So why is the policy not the same with other players eg Toto?

I've been saying this for ages but Hurst's performance in the transfer and loan market since Christmas has been criminal. His woeful signings have torpedoed the second half of the season for us. I saw a tweet yesterday saying his 4 loan strikers (Tomlinson, Alabi, Hoban & Jones) have managed a grand total of 0 goals across 23 cumulative apperances - that's absolutely shocking.

Completely irrelevant. Hurst lives or and dies by his results. The day he picks his team to appease fans who have stuck money on Amond to be top goalscorer he might as well give up and go home. The facts are we have fired blanks in our last 2 matches (both of which Amond started), Amond has only managed 1 goal in his last 6 (of which we lost 3) & Hurst has chosen to mix things up a bit.
Posted by: Mrs Doyle, April 16, 2016, 4:00pm; Reply: 93
Need to get something for the Dover defence to think about they are putting a lot of pressure on us. The best way to counter that is to hold the ball up in their half. One thing we can't do is sit back and let them come at us they sound like a big outfit so set pieces are going to be vital. This could be a nail biter the way we have been set up not much for them to worry about no pace ah fukit he knows best.

Anyone with eyes could see it wasn't Amond's fault his goalscoring has tailed off over the last few games. Performances across the entire team lately have been poor and service to him has been lacking. Mixing things up by dropping your top scorer is not a sign of clever management. Pittman's been injured for ages and hardly done enough in his substitute appearances (or over the course of the whole season really) to dislodge Podge from the starting line-up. Bogle should have been starting instead of Hoban lately, but again his recent scoring record is no better than Amond's either.

Yep, I'm feeling strangely apathetic considering we've got 3 games of the season left and are fighting to secure a playoff place. I guess recent performances, Hurst's bizarre selections and our past record in the playoffs are making me feel like our promotion hopes are going down the pan.

What is going through Hurst's head during periods like this? It happened against Cheltenham where they had us under the cosh at 2-1 in the second half. He stubbornly didn't make any subs, and only bothered once they'd scored their 3rd. Pittman's had an anonymous performance, has been out injured for weeks, hasn't played a full 90 in months, there's a 30 goal striker sat on the bench and STILL nothing changes. It's infuriating.

Hurst simply must be grinding out a draw. It's the only explanation. We should have won this, a little more cutting edge we possibly would have.

Monkhouse struggling, because he's practically a pensioner. Get him off and replaced with someone who can hit them on the counter with pace.

Fookin hell.  How far have we fallen, when we're trying to grind out a draw against the titans of non-league football.  Trying to defend a 1-1, just invites pressure and pressure.

Make a positive substitution, when clearly things aren't working.

He doesnt want to lose, its his biggest gripe losing....too scared to try and win...an away point against third in the league is a good point...they had possession but never really threatened.....(although they did just hit the post).....we could have gone 2-0 up..... etc etc etc etc fking etc.

now an odd substitution...

I hope he's got the balls to ask why Amond's on the bench if he's not going to use him. If he's too injured to come on, put Straker / Henderson / Stewart / anyone on the bench instead. If he's not injured at all he's totally lost the plot.

There is a pattern developing with every season (bar perhaps last season) we drop too many points early in the season with silly mistakes. This costs us a realistic shot at the title. We then go on a decent run until January when Hurst messes up his transfer dealings. This puts us on the back foot. We lose a few games. Fenty comes out with a stupid statement. Hurst starts banging on about the fans creating a negative environment. Said fans point out that we have underachieved spectacularly for 15 years and are a little bit narked. The pressure mounts. Hurst picks strange sides. The team's form disappears we enter the play off completely out of sorts and then we get beaten by a football club who we should be at least two leagues above. Does anyone seriously think this isn't going to happen again? Well maybe we might not get in the play offs.

Some serious questions for Hurst, the Amond benching is curious to say the least. Surely Stewart could have put in 10-15 minutes in, rather than Podge taking up a shirt yet being unfit to the point of not being playable.

If we don't go up this year (and lets be frank it's looking unlikely) We will lose Podge, Mckeown and Pearson. Disley and Gowling will be a year older (thus less effective) and we wont have the 100k raised by the fans this season meaning a smaller budget to tempt players. We'll finish mid table for at least 2-3 years meaning we will have spent a decade in non league. The clown running the football club (and I mean Fenty) will continue to make poor decisions and we will stuck down here until he does one.

Yes and the only time we've looked threatening since was the second half against Aldershot & the first half against Eastleigh,  Stewart & Bogle featured in both of those, Stewart has disappeared completely since then & Bogle was left out then back in how's he suppose to get a run of good form going & surely Stewart's worth a place on the bench at the very least to come on and run at tiring defenders

You can't help but think Hursts days are ebbing away....these selections defy belief. Took a penalty for us to score, Stewart gets very very tired after one game despite coming here to play and get fit, JPP played like it was a reserve game that he should ease into (not his fault, tbf) while Amond sits for 90 minutes, wondering what sort of game exactly it would be that suits him.
Playoffs beckoning, it should be an exciting time yet I'm baffled and alarmed in equal measure.

We could easily miss the play offs. Eastleigh are the form team now. Yet a couple of weeks ago we made then look poor but could not beat them. That is why it is so frustrating to see our position becoming more perilous. To think a couple of months ago we were closing in on second place. We may well have to win 2 out of 3 now.

Hey Paul, I've got a great idea for you. Why don't you coach out all the forward thinking, attack minded thoughts from the players we have and replace those who are lucky enough to leave with defenders next season? A full squad of defenders! Defend defend defend against all those incredibly dangerous non league teams full of highly talented superstars that you must be very very wary of. No defeats if you never concede a goal though and that's your dream isn't it Paul? Go on admit it, you want to be the first manager to never concede a single goal in a season! Complete sterility is your life's ambition. Oh, I've just realised.....you had the idea already!

Ideal outcome Meza is that we somehow get promoted & PH gets head hunted by the might of Notts County or maybe newly relegated York looking for a manager with Conference experience who can take them straight back up.

Actually as I type this that latter option may not be far off the mark whatever the outcome of our season.

Never heard of game not suiting a 30+ goal striker... but Podge n Bogle needed dropping when on red hot form earlier in the Season so Hurst must know something everyone else doesn't.

Someone get on the phone to Barca and tell them Messi might not suit some games...

Anyway, as a lowly fan who's never played the game who am I to be so bold as to question?

Do you really think another chairman with one iota of common sense will want to take on PH to take them straight up?

Dover, who we couldn't beat today, FGR who are miles ahead of us on points, and Braintree who beat us four days ago.

Not looking great is it?

Perhaps it's Hurst's master plan to deceive the opposition so they all under estimate us then we unleash an unknown Stewart on them and the prolific partnership of Bogle & Amond and we win the play offs. It worked for Newport a few seasons back at our expence  ;)

Why did he even bother having him on the bench if he had no intention of playing him?
What a boost to the Dover team to hear that the leagues top scorer has been dumped on the bench crazy management.
I would say Amound and Bogle are probably the most lethal strike partnership in the league and I'm sure that at any other club in this league they would of been the first names on the team sheet, and that's why I think we should offer Hurst another one years contract as chief scout.

The selection of strikers apart which still beggars belief, on measured reflection I think yesterdays point, and I can't believe I am saying this, may well yet prove to be a very valuable one, as we could, perhaps should have lost this game and we are heavily indebted to our back five for not doing so.
It's often discussed how part time teams especially one like Dover isolated as they are miles away from civilisation can compete as well as thet do, well now we know.
Okay their brand of football may not be that easy on the eye, but it's clear that not only do they have some very decent players (Walker, Ragett, Deverdicks, Miller)  they absolutely work their socks off for each other and if that's the scale of effort they normally put into games, it's little wonder they are third in the league.
I know from our perspective the game may be best remembered as the one Mr Hurst finally lost his marbles, but thankfully, we are still surely destined for the play off's and that being the case does it really matter who we play or controversially perhaps, who will be in charge, as surely like the Dover team proved yesterday, if everyone plays as they can, if everyone puts their all into the play off games, we may yet finish the season with smiling faces, but given the choice, would much rather it be against a FGR, a Braintree or an Eastleigh.
I will be there Tuesday, and have had to take half a days holiday to do so, but though three points was a given a few weeks ago, I have to quietly admit I am a little worried and just hope yesterdays result was a one off fluke for Woking, but I swear if he leaves Amond on the bench again, I will probably get straight back into the car and come home
