"No disrespect to the likes of Grimsby..."

thursday 10th august

Grimsby play in Immingham

Here is another one - culled from the BBC web page......" Chelsea play in Fulham, Grimsby play in Immingham, Crystal Palace play in Croydon, Arsenal have moved from Woolwich, West Ham play in East Ham, Bristol Rovers used to play in Bath but have moved back now. Scottish ones are much easier with the descriptive ones like Heart of Midlothian; Albion Rovers and Queen of the South but not St Johnstone which is surely the old name for Perth (St John's Town). I'm still wondering if there actually is a place called Stenhousemuir.
Sir, UK "

Irish Independent

Shelbourne manager Mark Keely reflecting on his teams pre-season tour: "The European experience was enjoyable for everyone. The players know it's the only place to be. Otherwise it's pre-season games against the likes of Cardiff, Grimsby and Crewe. Avoiding those sort of teams should be enough motivation."

Peter adds: "Now we've got the might of League of Ireland football putting us down. I don't think Dermot Keely, the man in question ever made it out of LOI football. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but it mainly consists of part-timers with the top teams having some professionals. Its standard is at best division two, but more realistically division three/conference."
