Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

All Change - Again!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 13/02/2003

PAUL Groves says his priorities for a loan target have changed and that he is now looking for a striker. Over the last few weeks his search has been for a midfielder, a central defender and now back to a striker.

"Steve Chettle's managed to train for the last couple of days - but again it's something we're going to have to monitor." said Groves.

It seems that Groves is looking for someone to replace Livvo and Mansaram but Livvo hardly needs replacing and Mansaram was a temporary replacement himself until he showed what he was worth so it might be a good thing if Groves fails to get one this week and is forced to use the young players again.

Soames and Thompson are ready. Thompson scored last week and put in a good performance so Groves just might be worrying a bit too much. He is not, I hope, thinking of not letting the lad have another go.

Mystery man Sagare who Groves signed and never played last week, also seems out of the picture due to illness. But if the young players do get a go, it might turn out better for Groves - if they do the job. If so Groves could rekindle his interest in a defender. Or a midfielder or whatever the flavour of the week is.

But Groves is not a gambling man and he will be searching feverishly for his man. Just about the time Blackburn are looking to loan out Matt Jenson.

Now there's a thought!!
