Terry Fleming 2004/0546 (1)2 goals

Terry Fleming

Nicknamed "The Black Zidane" by a small following of Fleming Mad Town fans. However the nickname is a mickey take as Fleming could not even be put into the same sentence as Zidane let alone nicknamed after him.

A sloppy, ball-greedy midfielder who signed on a free transfer from Cambridge United in July 2004. Known for his turn-overs and Cruyff-turns alike and seemed reluctant to hold onto the ball for as long as possible without passing to anyone. Really was the weak link in the 04/05 midfield and for this it caused big damage in a dismal season.

However despite his unpopularity at Blundell Park, two of his former teams Lincoln City and Cambridge United regarded him as a quite useful player. The Cambridge fans seriously set up a Fleming fan club called "The Terrytorial Army" and was actually really into Fleming, and even made t-shirts etc supporting the player, this lead to "The Black Zidane Appreciation Society" at Grimsby, however their web site consisted of brilliant Tel humour.

Fleming oddly rejected a new contract for the new season and was released from the squad.
