Where will Grimsby be next season?

Mildenhall To Yeovil

By: GTFC
Date: 17/06/2006

STEVE Mildenhall has left Blundell Park after deciding that his future lies elsewhere and will joining former Town manager, Russell Slade, at Yeovil.

Grimsby Town chairman, John Fenty, on Mariners Net said; "Although Town made the keeper a very good offer, the lure of League One probably proved too much for the former Oldham stopper."

"Steve Mildenhall's agent rang me late on Friday and I am disappointed to say that he has made a decision to leave Grimsby Town and join Yeovil."

"Ultimately, Steve wanted to play at a higher level and that has been a factor for him in making his decision. I think that Yeovil were the only club offering that prospect though a few other League"

"Two clubs were apparently interested."

"I understand from his agent that Steve is grateful for the opportunity he was given by Grimsby and all we can do is wish him the best for next season.

"We thank him for what he did for Grimsby Town last season - irrespective of everything that happened with not winning promotion, he did well for us."

"We recognised that and wanted him to stay. We made Steve what I believe was a very good offer to stay and the main disappointment for us is that we weren't given a chance to discuss that offer further with him. We hoped he would consider Grimsby Town's offer very seriously."

"As you would imagine, we have a 'Plan ' and there are several names in the frame that have been discussed with Graham Rodger."

"We are confident we will be able to bring in an excellent keeper of the same standard as Steve as a replacement and we will be pushing ahead with that now."
