Mariners Steady Ship

By: Matty Newton
Date: 24/02/2008

AFTER last weeks thrashing at the hands of Dagenham, the Mariners steadied the ship on a beach like pitch at Wrexham.

With Sam Hird departing last week, Jamie Clarke reverted to right wing back, with both Boshell and Toner coming back from injury starting in midfield along side Hunt. Ryan Bennett was also back in the starting line up after some solid performances coming from the bench.

Due to the amount of sand of the pitch, neither side looked really comfortable when passing the ball.

The only real note of the first half was Toner picking up a knock, as both sides failed to create clear cut chances.

A change at half time saw Bolland replace the injured Toner, and much like the first half chances were few and far between, with Danny North very much isolated up front.

On 68 minutes Gary Jones replace Peter Till who again had a good game.

Jones added some much needed help to North but still only half chances were being created.

North was replaced by Peter Bore with 10 minutes to go and looked lively, however if was Wrexham who could of won it in the last few minutes when substitute Michael Proctor curled a shot just wide from around 20 yards.

At the end of the day I think a draw was a fair reflection on the game that produced very little, but all in all a good result and another clean sheet.

Next up Morecambe on Tuesday Night, Cmon Town
