Town Lose Friendly

GRIMSBY lost their successive friendly to league opposition last night when they went down 1-0 to League Two side Mansfield. However the Mariners had long periods of possession and were not outclassed by the Stags.

Grimsby once again fielded three trialists - Jon-Paul Pittman, Joe Ironside and Craig Clay - who all played 45 minutes, emphasising this is a training exercise more than a serious game.

Former Grimsby striker Liam Hearn came on as a sub for Mansfield but failed to find the target.

Grimsby had lost 4-0 earlier this week to Doncaster, a side three divisions above Grimsby

The new season starts in two weeks with Town still looking to sign three more players.
