Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

We are Town!

Grimsby v Chesterfield Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/04/2018

GRIMSBY are running out of excuses and need to win the game against Chesterfield at Blundell Park on Saturday. Failure to do so will mean Town will more likely than not be relegated.

On the other hand, if they win the game, their destiny is in their own hands and a win against Barnet next win should secure the league place for next season. Games are often billed as huge six pointers but it is hard to imagine a more important game as this one at the five games to play stage.

Grimsby's injury situation is much the same. Simeon Jackson, Mallik Wilks, Ben Davies, Karleigh Osborne and Paul Dixon are all ruled out and Siriki Dembele is not fully fit but will probably make the bench again.

Michael Jolley will probably pick a similar side to that which led for most of the game at Wycombe. He elected to play one up front in that game, but it's likely that Town will play two strikers from the start in a game they need to win.

Chesterfield have a long injury list (Sam Hird, Giles Coke, Gozie Ugwu and Dylan Mottley-Henry), like Town, but there are no new casualties after the 2-1 defeat at Port Vale on Good Friday, although they have had an extra two days to rest following the postponement on Monday.

Town beat Chesterfield in the season opener at Saltergate and will be hoping that they gain their first three points of 2018 come tomorrow.
