Birmingham Report Card

Date: 31/03/2002

DR FISHY has provided a report card for the Town team which lost 4-0 at Birmingham next time. The doctor would like to see more application from his charges on Monday!

CoyneC-didn't have a lot to do except pick ball out of net.
McDermottB-worked hard, but made one uncharacteristic mistake and was punished.... to be fair he tried to atone, and attacked very well
GallyC-hmmm, simply looked silly on occasions as brum passed the ball around him.
GrovesC+well, at least he looked willing to attack at times.
ToddC-Very poor game but like gally, he was solid one minute, then guilty on dwelling on the ball for too long the next. Even managed to flatten Coyne at one stage...
ButterfieldC+as inconsistent as usual. he did things wingers should do, he did things midfielders should do. he had a shot! but as per usual he jogged about too much, and his positioning ranged for excellent to abysmal
StaceCdid ok, tracked back, broke up played, neat bits of passing
PoutonD+thought he was awful. played too deep, didn't support front men at all, failed to find teammates too often, and did not make any of his trademark crunching tackles. lucky not to be subbed.
CampbellBbest game for a while, 2 good chances, drifted around the park, actually looking for the ball, and was very busy most of game
AllenC+just not his day, ref got in his way at one stage, but Brad really wasn't on his game
BouldingBmade the runs, allegedly offside every time, except one 2nd half chance just wide. again, like Campbell, looked lively if a little ineffective

Subs

FalconerC-didn't realise Mike Jeffrey was back. perhaps this sort of player is good in Scotland, but was poor, very poor for us
BurnettC+competent, but didn't make huge difference
RobinsonBwow! looked lively and really hassled opposition defenders. had 2 efforts in about 10 mins, better than anyone except Campbell for chances on goal...
