CLUB captain John McDermott completed 85 minutes of this afternoon's reserve game with Lincoln City at Lincoln United's ground, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The Imps went ahead in the game from a Mark Bailey free kick, before Chris Bolder leveled the game for the Mariners.

Town boss Paul Groves, however, is not going rush John McDemott back into the first team, instead erring on the side of caution with the club's record appearance holder who has been suffering from a sciatic nerve problem.

"He's missed 4-5 weeks of pre-season work", the Grimsby manager told Radio Humberside. "If he ends up doing too much it could re-occur."

The Lincoln game today was Macca's second outing of the week after taking part in Monday's 2-1 defeat at home to Doncaster in a reserve friendly.

Grimsby: Pettinger, McDermott, Wheeler, Young, Parker, Hildred, Ward, Hockless, Bolder, Rowan, Mansaram.
Subs: Carchedi, Hughes, Nimmo, Newton, Davey.
