Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Who's Your Hero?!
Who's Your Hero?!

August Player of the Month

By: Jake Olley
Date: 04/09/2006

WITH such a poor start it seems ironic that the Fishy should have a player of the month as to be honest the fans are the only real candidates but it is the Fishy's way - no matter how bad we are. I am now going to put you through the misery of trying to find the good points of the season so far.

Home > 2006-2007 Season > Player of the Month > August

The six players are:

Peter Bore - The new whizz kid on the block has hit Grimsby so fast Mr.Fenty whipped out the three year deals - hopefully it will be more successful than the last three year deal with Futchenstein Jnr! Bore has banged in three goals with one coming within 10 seconds of his debut. Bore also handed in a man of the match against Bury, which also makes him my choice, but in the words of the Big Brother Geordie - You Decide!

Isaiah Rankin - Looked sharp despite only one goal against Boston. Rankin looks like he could build on his tally of one, though he will need the service.

Peter Beagrie - OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH controversial but Beags has done okay since joining from Scunny. Despite not yet scoring he has looked threatening and linked up well with Newey on a couple of occasions.

Gary Croft - Has done extremely well since taking Macca's place in the team with most Town fans now giving Crofty the nod to replace Macca. Croft has looked threatening going forward as well as tightening up at the back. Will this be enough though?

Tom Newey - Shows the calibre of Town's performance so far that Newey has been placed on the shortlist. Has done okay in a couple of games but the fact there is no-one else is the reason for his inclusion.

Michael Reddy - Booooooo! Another controversial selection by the readers as the want away striker is in the Fishy Oscars. Reddy has done nothing really this month apart from pull his groin, hand in a transfer request and then go under the knife tomorrow - but again shows there is no-one else.

Nominations for Player of the Month are made using the Man of the Match form at the end of match reports. Every vote for Player of the Month counts towards the Player of the Season at the end of the year.
