Town Face Millers

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/09/2007

GRIMSBY have been drawn against fellow League Two outfit Rotherham away from home in the Northern Section of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Mariners have avoided Leeds, who received a bye in Round One. United face a trip to Darlington in the Northern Section of Round 2.

Grimsby entered Round Two after a resounding 4-1 win over League One's Huddersfield in Round One on Tuesday night, their first victory of the 2007-2008 season.

Grimsby have won on their last three visits to Millmoor. Their last trip there was a memorable 1-0 victory in 2003 when John Oster scored with practically the last kick of the game. Town beat Rotherham in the first round of the same competition in 1988.

The prize awaiting the finalists in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is a trip to Wembley. The Mariners of course won the trophy in 1998 with Wayne Burnett's golden goal against Bournemouth.

The full draw is as follows

Northern Section

Wrexham/ Macclesfield v Stockport
Carlisle v Chester
Morecambe v Port Vale
Rochdale v Bury
Doncaster v Oldham

Lincoln City v Hartlepool
Rotherham v Grimsby

Southern Section

Bristol Rovers v Bournemouth
Swindon v Cheltenham
