Beat the Bookies: Week 8

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 04/10/2007

ANOTHER week, another loss from Beat the Bookies! But it is only a matter of time before a winner of two comes along, there have been bad runs in the past and they have always been overcome. This week we have some very good tips!

Home > 2007-2008 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 8

Grimsby make the difficult trip to Peterborough on Saturday. The bookies unsurprisingly make big spenders Peterborough the strong favourites to win, but Posh have not had the greatest start to the season, and have only one won of their last five games. Their money has only put them 4 points ahead of Town. With Grimsby having a decent record at London Road, and their recent form not at all bad (Town didn't deserve to lose on Tuesday, Whittle will be back, maybe Hunt too etc.), 4/1 for a Town win is a must bet.

Elsewhere in League Two one match jumps out of the bookies' coupon and slaps you between the eyes. Barnet have won their last three games against top opposition (Wycombe, Rotherham and Chesterfield). They now head to Stockport who are below Barnet in the table, lost last week to Morecambe, and yet the bookies make Barnet 3/1 to win. Madness! Go down the bookies, do not pass the pub, and put as much money as you can afford to lose on a Barnet victory. You will not regret it.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Grimsby to beat Peterborough (4/1, bet365).
  • 2. Barnet to beat Stockport (3/1, bet365).
