Southwell unlucky not to start I think. He seems to have been doing well of late coming on as a sub.

Thought Soares would be on the bench to cover wingers, as we have no winger cover or midfield cover, if a midfielder gets injured I guess it would be 4-4-2 having said that if Nielson or Marshall get injured etc it would be a striker on.

Strange bench, 4 strikers and a full back! Surprised to see no Ford or Soares! Think that days a lot about where there Grimsby Town careers are headed!

Still 0-0 mate, very small crowd and nobody is in a rush to tire themselves out and go for a lead. Town appear to have most the ball but no chances or any goal mouth aciton to note as of yet.

Yer the games "not really in second gear yet" i don;t think we have too much to worry about yet, however i'm sure if Scott gets the impression that Town are not taking it seriously enough, then he is more than likely to voice his views at half time lol.

Replay is a pain in the bottom. Would rather have lost.

Can't say I am overly bothered though. Some positives are that Rankine got some game time with his new team mates, 1000+ attendance should hopefully mean we didn't lose too much money plus no injuries or suspensions.

Not the only dismal performance and result this season against a small team/PT team/team at the bottom of the league or from a lower league.  We can't break them down or don't have the strength or guile to do so.   Not encouraging for the rest of the season when we have similar games.

Was it a case of under estimating Buxton's abilities? Would appear that way in my opinion, "football is a funny old game." Though I can't judge the performance because I wasn't there. I don't like that saying from naive football fans, "we should beat teams like this." That's just like I said, naive.

I ain't too bothered by the FA trophy and don't feel so gutted for not being able to be there today now. But will have to up our game in the replay. UTM.

Yeh maybe, I wasn't there so just asking others for their opinion. Have to be open minded though. I guess it's because I don't care about the trophy this season being why I said what I did.

Probably our best performance of the season.  Yeah, we sat 10 players behind the ball in the first half but you know, rather that than a 7-0 spanking some of your fans were predicting.  We did the same at Guiseley, except it didn't work there!  Genuinely can't believe we got away with a goalless draw.  I'm bloody delighted.  Some more ££££ for us as well! Earned around £3-4000 today.  Disappointed with our turnout of 94, quite low for us.

All the best for the rest of the season (Wednesday aside!)

Hello disgruntled Grimsby fans,

I was filming the game today as I run BFCTV.net so many thanks to Dale Ladson and all other officials, stewards etc I met today. Including the Grimsby fans I met in the Blundell Park Hotel before and after the game. Absolutely great co-operation and friendship. (We didn't go in the Imperial).

It was an excellent view from the top of your main stand! I've had a good work out today toing and froing from the gantry.

This is what I recently put on the Buxton FC forum;

Quoted Text
Very professional performance as you will see when the highlights are done. With the high viewpoint you will see how well we kept our shape at the back AND the tremendous physical effort the lads put in.

I thought Grimsby overplayed at times and I expected a bit more from them but that may be down to a bit of complacency on their part and not relishing the more physical aspects of the game that Buxton always bring; allied with an increasing ability to catch Grimsby on the break that proves how fit the whole squad is.

Went through lots of water on the way back home and its still chucking it down. However the game may still be on Wednesday as the forecast is a lot drier after today. Our pitch is not as good as yours :)) so your players need to pull their fingers out and get stuck in because if they don't they may well get beat.

From the tone of this forum I suspect you want your manager to play the same lot, get beat as worst case, but talk about promotion as the target. I feel the same way about our League Cup and DSC (Derbyshire Senior Cup) as IF we win our games in hand (look at the table -link) WE should be fighting for promotion also.

Lets hope we both get there.

All the best.

Paul Curran
[BFC TV Boss)

PS: I know you have your own Video Channel and met your guys today who were great but I will post on here when I put the highlights (20 mins) on BFCTV.net - link

With all due respect Paul I think perhaps you suspect wrong.
Sometimes it doesn't ALWAYS need a sledge hammer to crack a nut (no disrespect).
But if the nut's "at the back" of the sofa it isn't always that easy to do...

To be honest I'm wondering how many a reserve side ready, eager & willing and more skillful could put past you.
Presumably we're fitter, quicker and younger (and possibly stronger) and more durable than you ex pros lot too?

Not sure if Wednesday's too soon for you ?
By the sound of it, might take you a good week to get your breath back !
Would be no such worries for us we'd be fresh as a daisy...

To be honest I'm not even fully convinced you'd be able to get out your own half or get 1 shot on target, let alone score !
Or if you did you might be 3 down by the time you'd realised !

Perhaps the only bottle you've really got is one with a Buxton label stuck onto it ? ;)
That's a "nice shape" too !  :)

Anyway honestly and sincerely pleased you enjoyed your day out, hope you made the most of it (while you could ?).
Who knows perhaps you'll even score or get to the 2nd round next year too ?

Anyway thanks for the link and best wishes... (I guess you may need it !  ;))

All the very best.

It's called reverse psychology, good old fashioned team talk and banter.

Don't get me wrong he sounds like a very good, fair and nice bloke. Even offered us the highlights too ?

But let's be honest here as well...
THEY started it all off with their mind games in the GET which I didn't rise to and just let go.
But now they've come on here GIVING IT LARGE again and tbh, feel like they deserve a taste of their own medicine.

Whilst I don't want to take any risks with the league, I'll tell you one thing...
I would absolutely LOVE IT if we sent a weakened reserve side down there to beat them.

And I think we can, in fact we KNOW we can !
So what are we waiting for ?...

Let's rally the troops chomping at the bit to get going with 100% commitment, desire and energy and show these cocky g1ts how it REALLY done.

Let's send a weakened reserve side down there and fookin HAMMER them !!!!!  (anger3) (smash) (anger3)
WE ARE TOWN !  COME ON !!!!(orc)

Not at all.
tbh I'm just fed up no-one seems to have any faith in our reserve players and automatically assumes they can't beat Buxton.
Can't people see
a) it's not a certainty we'd lose to Buxton by any means
and
b) the HUGE benefits it would provide if we won ? (or even if we didn't for that matter).

I liked the picture of the ball on its own in the sky. Reminded me of the days when the Telegraph ran a competition called "spot the ball" where a picture was published with the ball removed and you put a cross where you thought it was. Great fun, maybe The Trust can resurect it as a fund raiser.

I remember those days.  :)
You'd be wondering what logic to use to guess where it might be !
Great fun though and good idea, bring it back !...
