Really pleased with the team. Good mixture of youth/fringe players. Part of me wants the young lads to play well and earn there place in the next round, but part of me still wants us out this competition for pure fitness purposes. UTM

If Southwell doesn't make any impression tonight, will he be set for another loan out in January to make room for an experienced goal scorer to assist Hannah, Cook and L J-L.

Hatton in midfield tonight with Winfarrah at left back according to Tondeur!
Posted by: Tom13, December 3, 2013, 7:51pm; Reply: 10
Sounds like 4-3-3 tonight, something like this:

                McKeown

Bignot   Doig  Humble  Winfarrah

                  Thanoj

            Hatton     McLaughlin

Southwell                      Colbeck

                    Cook

Interesting selection from Hurst!

Hatton , Colbeck and Winfarrah getting plenty of good mentions so far - Buckley rates Winfarrah !

Cook winning some headers tonight at last !

Buckley hasn't been a bad judge of a player in the past, so this bodes well for us!

Sounds like a random team being watched by 38 people.

Anyone got an idea of rough attendance tonight?

Background fan noise is as high as usual from the commentary pick up.

Sounds like we're struggling with last ball / shots at their goalie.

Err, some of his more recent signings for Town (Matt Heywood, Richard Hope, Martin Butler, Chris Llewellyn etc.) suggest he might just be losing his touch...

Wouldn't be surprised if there's less than 1000 there tonight.
Posted by: acko338, December 3, 2013, 8:25pm; Reply: 17
Thanoj the main man so far according to Buckley - but under no real pressure.

Hatton also proving good in the midfield position.

Service to Cook still not accurate enough to allow him to control and lay off to others.

The slight worry is that we haven't had a shot on target yet.
Posted by: acko338, December 3, 2013, 8:35pm; Reply: 19
Hannah needed in the 2nd half to break through a mass packed defence around the box!

Cook and Southwell not got their shooting boots on tonight!

Good play up to the penalty box, but it is dying a death from no inspiration to get in a shot!

Back to a solid 4-4-2 this half - this weird formation not working as yet.

Is their player Hepptenstall worth a cheeky try for the rest of the season? - Buckley likes his style, speed and mobility.

Is it just a clumsy attempt by Hurst to lose ???

Their 1st shot on target - saved well by McKeown.

Still using the silly formation - get back to 4-4-2, please.

Woo !!

Town's 1st shot on target by McLaughlin - described by Buckley as a powder puff shot - even thinks that penalties will settle this!

Southwell is a GOAL MACHINE.

Release Hearn, sell Hannah and convert Cook to a centre back. Don't need them.

Am pleased for dayle getting three goals, that will do him good, but before we all start crowing abut how good he is, remember the standard of opposition we are playing tonight is nothing lke conference premiership level. or dare i say league 2 standard next year. dayle is decent enough but at a certain level, and that level is not town first team level. But it will make some other teams take notice of him, ie north ferriby, gainsborough, boston united etc. So well done lad.

half time report Les and it was as i said.....he looked lost, incapable and unconfident. Thought he was going to fluff his first but his second had good movement and a tidy finish...i did not see the third as was on my by then...is he the answer for scoring three goals against a tiring part time team leagues below us?  i dont think so but to be fair he scored more than cook did and he had arguably the better chances.

I'd have probably written something very similar but it just made me smile when I read it.   ;)

Give the lad some slack, I thought we played some tidy football first half without achieving anything in the way of goals even though we had loads of shots at goal but off target. they were a decent team but lacked the individual skill of our boys.
Second half apart from one save from our keeper we bossed it and Southwell took his goals well, this will do him good regarding confidence because Hearn`s  boots will be difficult to fill
