Unchanged side from Saturday with Gowling replacing Venney on the bench!

I like the continuity!!

Same starting 11 as on Saturday.
First match i've not been to this season so hope the lads keep up the good football.  Dreading listening to JT on Radio Humberside as he always makes it seem like the opposition are going to score with every attack!

Gowling is on the bench; Hannah is upfront for Chester. Liked Hannah, would have been useful for Hurst to have kept if he wanted a reliable 4th Striker....

Hannah was a great player when the game
Suited him. But that was very rare and he was unable to adapt due to a lack of other attributes. Bogel however has it all IMO!

Give the guy a break, he has scored 7 in 8. He I still learning and developing. If we keep creating chances he will score. I agree in a tight game you have to take chances though.

Chester had a cracking chance at end great ball in but none of the strikers went for it. Bogle should have buried at least one.

Hmmm a striker not putting all of his chances away but still getting a good goal return. That does remind me of someone else we had who wasn't cut any slack on here.  Why is it one rule for one and one for others?

* in no way am I comparing Bogle to LJL just asking why the different treatment.

Yes they are. Chapell did the sum of absolutely intercourse all while playing for us, and barely managed to get into the team. Same for Hannah who spent most of the time after his initial loan spell running around to no great effect, other than getting caught offside. All he's done tonight is run around a bit, fall over in the box and score a penalty - he's not missed any clear chances like our strikers have tonight.

This isn't the scoreline or performance of a team intending to win the league though. AGAIN we've missed a load of decent first half chances before throwing it away with a defensive member-up in the second half. This shouldn't still be happening.

All around the country right now there are corners and free kicks being sung in and headed home by defenders and midfielders. Meanwhile we seem to have just Bogle to carry the responsibility to score. Where are the set pieces needed to grab these goals in games that are tiresomely ebbing away into a defeat yet again?

I'm sure if you trawl back through a few threads on here you'll see me and others say that Hurst would go and win a couple then lose a couple again exactly the same as we have for the last four seasons.

Conceding in every game, with many unforced defensive errrors.  Forwards missing enough good chances to cost us many points.

Before tonight we had scored in every away game, in all competitions, for something like 28 consecutive games.   We had even scored 2 at Chester last season.

Some of you miserable sods are probably gutted we equalised. If the players are missing chances, what is the manager supposed to do?

3 games undefeated, could be the start of a good run.

Conceding in every game, with many unforced defensive errrors.  Forwards missing enough good chances to cost us many points.

Before tonight we had scored in every away game, in all competitions, for something like 28 consecutive games.   We had even scored 2 at Chester last season.

IS THAT 29 games now then.  :)

Well, I suppose it's good to see the strikers are still managing to get some goals. Both in the top scorers list. Problem is that it is still taking several good chances for them to score. Didn't listen to the game, but judging by the comments in this thread, another couple of points chucked away in the grand scheme of things.

We've got to either score more goals or sort out the defence to move onwards and upwards. Preferably both.  :-/

Can't believe how pissy people get.

I've not managed an away game yet but I have been to every home game this season. In all the games I've seen at home we have largely dominated apart from one half against Torquay.

This side is well good enough to get promoted this season. You'd have to be clueless to think otherwise.

Yes, results haven't been as good as we'd hope but the problem is conceding some soft goals. Hurst strengths for me has always been his defence so I believe he will sort that out. Once he does, I have every confidence we'll go on a long unbeaten run in this league.

It's a two way street for me.

We should be winning these games and we came very close to yet another stupid loss.

However, great character yet again. We've rescued so many points this season solely due to character. We've also conceded what sounds like a very harsh penalty and otherwise not really been threatened.

I see positives and negatives.

Feels like a win, great tenacity to keep going for goal till the end. Don't understand the same negative posters repeating themselves time after time. It's as if you thrive on losing and only comment when you have something negative to say. People would have far more respect for you if you actually gave credit when it is due. UTM

It's not negativity in my case; it's resignation. I'm delighted we scored a deserved goal but i still see no signs that Hurst has what it takes to get us promoted, which is a worry after the amount of time he's had.

People say that missing chances is not the managers fault but it is his job to find a solution and his job to stop us leaking silly goals. Neither of which he has yet done.

If that's negativity, then so be it.

How is a draw away from home a terrible result? How is the season over when we've gained a point on the leaders? Some people won't be happy unless we win every game which is completely unrealistic no matter who the manager is.

I have never been a PH fan but, speaking about homecgames only, I have to say the quality of our football this season is much improved and we are creating more chances then I can remember for many a season.

We all also hailed Paddy & Omar's arrival & pre-season goals but despite scoring regularly they still miss a lot of chances.

Personally I would rather watch those two than LJL & Hannah up front and from everything I have seen & read had we taken 75 per cent of chances provided we have won every match.

Thus on this occasion I feel we should cut PH some slack as we did in great numbers bemoan the lack of entertainment provided by town in previous seasons. A harsh penalty tonight and missed chances cannot all be placed at PH's door.

I repeat what I said Saturday though that without a commanding midfield player the quality of our other players may go to waste. We normally start to kick on in October so fingers crossed that we repeat this again this year.

1 point gained over forest green is a bonus but was such a frustrating game but it didn't need to be. Just need to score our early chances in the first half and we would be flying. Looking at the table and I would say our start is average but Luton had same amount of points after this amount of games and won league Mansfield even less so loads to play for 3 points Friday please town.

Asking what the views of people at the game will be isn't "playing a card". It is wondering what viewers thought about the game because they, you know, were actually there.

We know that Tondeur makes some games sound doom-laden so a different viewpoint is useful. I don't actually listen to games myself these days but all the posts in this thread are obviously based on his commentary so, as always, I'm interested in reading the 'Just back' threads. In general, it sounds like a performance typical of this season - missed chances, soft goal conceded etc etc. Let's see if the folks who went to the game say anything different!

Ok, it's all well and good to say it's his job to sort out individual aberrations but just exactly how does he do that? There's nothing Hurst could have done in his preparations or tactics that would have stopped Robertson taking Hannah's legs or Bogle missing a sitter. We've not been outplayed in any games yet this season. If we were being outplayed, believe me, I'd be less than happy. As we're not and with Hurst's track record with the defence, I have belief that we will soon start keeping clean sheets. It's not excrement or twist time...yet.

If the club is serious about us winning the league we have to be far more ruthless otherwise it's the lottery of play off's yet again, which is looking more and more likely.  I'm really relieved we salvaged a point because a draw on tonight's performance was just about fair.

However, Chester have reformed and come back up the leagues and were an even match for us tonight.  This scenario should never have been able to come to fruition. We are treading water when we should be treading on the destroyed souls of our opposition.

We need to be getting stuck into the opposition from the first to last whistle, tonight's performance wasn't good enough for a team with notions of getting out of this league. Hurst can make all the excuses or arrogant remarks he likes but his team doesn't convince me that we have the consistent performances to out point our potential promotion rivals.

Paul Hurst and the players need to start showing their war faces because at the minute they aren't scaring the opposition.

It's a point away and we've gained points on lots if teams above.  I'm not over the moon but not devastated either.  One thing I will say is I'm seeing a lot of interviews on MP about Hurst saying how good we've been and Amond saying how good Robertson and Bogle are and how the squad can beat anyone on its day and will always create chances and we've been in good form it's not a blip etc etc... I think it's all good having belief, but there comes a time when they all need to stop blowing smoke up each other and just go out there and do what they all think and state regularly that they're capable of.  Maybe let someone know in training about a poor finish it a loose pass... It all comes across very nice at the minute, fair play if it works but 2 wins in the last 7 didn't suggest that. I think confidence and self belief is a good thing, but they need to make sure they don't get delusional or complacent.  We've only seen they're capable against newly promoted teams really so I currently think they need to be told they're actually not performing anywhere near what's expected of them in games against more capable opposition. I like Hurst and still support him and I'm also not a manager, but it was an observation that was stRting to irritate me.  Hopefully see a bit more anger and fight on Friday from a team that look like they've been told they need to improve, rather than they've been unlucky.

Listening to the match I would say a draw was a fair result, obviously not one we wanted but the only way Chester was going to score was a penalty, Hannah must have gone down five or six times in the box trying to con the ref,it was only going to be a matter of time before he was awarded one and a very soft one it was. Our lads showed great spirit to keep going up to the final whistle and get something out of the game. Looking back to the same fixture last season, being two up then conceeding two late goals in the manner we did makes tonights draw a bit easier to swallow. Get back to winning ways again friday and tonight will be a distant memory. Just a shame we didn't take all three points tonight as teams above dropped points. A long way to go yet with plenty of points left to play for.

Good post from springstomind, again no chances, can't remember the chester keeper making a save in the first half unless we are to get excited about shots and chances that go into row z, the team looks unbalanced to me, tempo only improved in the last 10 minutes, with Arnold looking much more at home on the left, got to say it Jp looked the part.

Didnt the keeper save with his feet and body from two Bogle efforts in the first half?

Strangely didn't feel too negative when we were losing. Sounded like we payed quite well. Maybe it was because I just had the radio on in the background while I was working so wasn't fully engaged.

The draw feels more like a win especially as it's a tiny amount clawed off FGR.

So pleased that went in at the death....we deserved it for going three up top and three at the back, pushing all out for the equaliser

Just listen though to all those "Hurst Out" chants amongst the travelling fans....oh hang on. There weren't any!!  ;)

For what it's worth I actually think Robinson is a good player  :)

I thought he was quite dreadful tonight, weak and gave the ball away.

First time I've seen him, but Robinson looked awful, what was he doing early second half when he wouldn't offload and ran straight into traffic in the centre of the pitch?

Where have I heard that before, not a promotion player IMO. Cue Luton comments bla bla bla

You could've taken Robinson's name out of that sentence and substituted Monkhouse, Arnold, etc. etc.
