Enjoy yourself and hopefully you witness a good game and most of all a win from the Mariners.

Decent start from both teams, Cheltenham have some big players and look a decent team.

That handball was clearly in the area. How the linesman didn't tell the referee i'll never know (actually that's a lie - it's because conference officials are shite)

Looking at that replay that was deffinately a penalty.
Posted by: chaos33, October 30, 2015, 8:21pm; Reply: 10
Another terrible conference refereeing decision. Quite clearly a penalty and the linesman can see that quite clearly but hasn't given it. Not happy.

A good first half by both teams, Town have edged it and created a few chances, we just need to convert these chances in the second half.
Posted by: HackneyHaddock, October 30, 2015, 8:34pm; Reply: 12
Two decent sides playing some good stuff and closing down.  Hopefully by the end, our fresher legs will come through and we'll take a few chances.

Well, we should have had a penalty. No question. Yet another example of terrible quality officiating.

We've worked really hard and been the better side in the first half. They are also working very hard to close down space and make it hard for us. They're obviously decent.

We have to keep trying to take the game to them, keep up the work rate and maintain our concentration when defending. I'd like to see Nathan Arnold in the game a bit more, and Clay and Disley up it 10%.

Most of the penalty shouts for and against us seem to be given the wrong way, more correct decisions would be given just by flipping a coin!

Come on Town, put the pressure on 2nd half!
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 30, 2015, 8:44pm; Reply: 15
The linesman had an excellent view of the penalty shout but didn't even raise his flag, poor decision!
Posted by: chaos33, October 30, 2015, 8:50pm; Reply: 16
Exactly! He's even worse than the ref. He's right in line with it. No excuse for not giving it.

Can't say they didn't have warnings, it's been coming for a while. We look toothless.

just can't do it against the top sides, same old same old we need a change of direction or well never get up

Sloppy as f*ck defending. We've been poor this half.
Posted by: MarinerGaz, October 30, 2015, 9:15pm; Reply: 31
Thought they would be the ones to tire second half!?!?

Disappointed with Bogles performance tonight. Not in the game at all

Player on his own there, urine poor defending that was.
Posted by: MuddyWaters, October 30, 2015, 9:16pm; Reply: 34
Really poor from Pearson and short of quality in midfield
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 30, 2015, 9:17pm; Reply: 35
We look a different team from that first half performance.
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 30, 2015, 9:18pm; Reply: 36
They're all over us now.
Posted by: chaos33, October 30, 2015, 9:23pm; Reply: 37
Really poor and hard to see where we might get a goal from. Centre midfield second best. Sad to see us make nothing of home advantage. You just know that if this was at their place we'd be 2 or 3 down now.
Not good enough, sadly.
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 30, 2015, 9:26pm; Reply: 38
We've had chances to win this, so bloody frustrating!  a game we can't really afford to lose.
Posted by: Badger57, October 30, 2015, 9:26pm; Reply: 39
Why why WHY can we STILL not take a decent flipping corner?
Posted by: Chrisblor, October 30, 2015, 9:26pm; Reply: 40
Getting mugged off by a defence containing Danny Parslow ffs. Just not good enough. Disley must work the keeper when presented with a chance like that. No composure.

Why do we constantly give the ball away FFS!!
Posted by: Meza, October 30, 2015, 9:32pm; Reply: 43
Too many long bloody balls for me midfield cancelled out when you do that.
Posted by: Badger57, October 30, 2015, 9:33pm; Reply: 44
Once they sussed everything was coming down the right side for us and they reverted to 442 they've been the better side especially in the second half. We've not even been in it. Good side Cheltenham, we are not good enough.
Posted by: Meza, October 30, 2015, 9:34pm; Reply: 45
Poor performance tonight....no intensity slow long passing and ripped off a penalty.
Posted by: chaos33, October 30, 2015, 9:36pm; Reply: 46
We've created very little and nothing in the second half. We've stopped passing it. Really poor IMO and very disappointing.
Posted by: Meza, October 30, 2015, 9:36pm; Reply: 47
Its only because we've played into their hands launching balls were their decenders are dominating our forwards you'd think we would have catched on by now.  Oh well we go again.

Very disappointed wth that second half display, really had a good feeling about tonight too, another points gap opening up. :-/

Yep, Hurst's been outclassed by Gary Johnson. Their change of formation has been pivotal. Can't ever recall Hurst successfully making a tactical change to win a game.

Yes I agree.
Posted by: chaos33, October 30, 2015, 9:41pm; Reply: 52
It's nights like this that destroy my faith in Hurst getting us promoted. We've come up against a decent team for once and what have we got, on our own patch? Nothing!
Posted by: Rick12, October 30, 2015, 9:43pm; Reply: 53
Thought we edged it first half and unlucky not to get the pen. They edged it second.Overall disappointed  as I dont see on that performance a title winning team.Yes they were second but there was no real quality players for them just worked as a unit.Hate to say it but play offs again look like the likely bet this year again.
Posted by: cmackenzie4, October 30, 2015, 9:45pm; Reply: 54
I thought we looked toothless in that 2nd half and void of any ideas.
Posted by: bobbyturtle, October 30, 2015, 9:47pm; Reply: 55
Horror show, second half. I think ph was outfoxed today.
Posted by: jonnyboy82, October 30, 2015, 9:48pm; Reply: 56
Ah well at least we are used to it now  ;D

Arnold and townsend both poor tonight well to be honest they all had bad nights.

Shows still a lot of work to do.

Cheltenham can come and win at ours first attempt in getting relegated yet it took us 2 years to get even remotely looking like winning a game at a promotion chasing team.

Are they a good team or is the league poor this year, regardless like i say alot of work to do.

Typical tried and tested Johnson team method: well-organised, a lump upfront and hard to break down.  Not a lot of world beaters in that team, but well-organised and disciplined.  He's obviously a genius to be top of the league and still be able to play Parslow and Pell in the team.

He had to switch from the 3-5-2 to 4-4-2; we were having a field day down their flanks.  That's not being a tactical genius, that's just showing common sense.

We come up short again against the in form teams at home.  Again our midfield went AWOL, leaving defenders to punt hopeless longballs conceding possession.  The second half was a real horror show.  Played straight into their hands.

I'd get those buggers out tomorrow morning at 7 am taking corners and working on short range passing.  To not be able to beat the first man from a corner is criminal.

Answer to johonnyboys question...it's a poor league this year...and with performances like that at home scraping through via the play offs is our only hope
