I like the starting 11 a lot.  find it strange we have 2 full backs on the bench along with a cb... but hey ho it's the 11 on the pitch that matters. utm.

5 x's and im intrigued why. If we are chasing the game, the only attacking option we have is a kid on loan who hasnt played with us!! Win lose or draw, think its foolish to not have a winger on the bench

We are starting with 3 wingers though and have 2 full backs that can comfortably play further forward.

Maybe you got the X's for slating Hurst for not having Mackreth on the bench. Ever thought Mackreth (and others) may be injured and therefore not PH's prefered bench ?

I was thinking the same.  I can think of several occasions this season where Hurst has been slated on here for not playing various players and its turned out there have been perfectly good reasons ranging from injuries to personal issues.  Maybe we should draw breath before slagging him off at every opportunity.

Think they mean in recent years where the teams have been relegated to the 5th tier and or promoted back in to the top four divisions

The old Wimbledon must have been elected in place of some other team as the current format was only introduced in 1987

Wimbledon were elected after winning the Southern League.

Back to Humberside for half-time, maybe we will get an explanation why they haven't bothered doing a commentary.

I'm not bothered about the lack of a JT commentary as I find him too negative and lacking enthusiasm. I understand that he tries to remain neutral but I feel he takes it too far, however I do love John Moores commentaries. UTM

1979 according to Wiki, but automatic promotion only came in in 1987.

Personally, I'd say Wimbledon is right anyway! (AFCW were given the cup by MKD, same club, morally anyway)

Gone from the early FFS comments to what sounds like a fairly straightforward victory

Well done Town :)

My £10 on Podge at 25/1 to be top goalscorer not looking too bad a bet again. A shame FA Cup goals don't count.

And manager  ;) It would surely have been his fault if we'd lost so only fair he gets some of the praise.

Saving his best for us. His scoring rate must be the best of his career at Town.

No post match comments from either the manager / players or the fans

Appreciate Barrow is off the beaten track so using Radio Cumbria for commentary but there's still local input to consider post match

Hey ho...let's shout out how pleased we are on here instead

Well done Town. Onwards and upwards!

Not having a go but Podge did something that Omar hasn't got in his locker YET!

Full credit to PH for signing him, use him properly and he is the scorer we needed and his work rate is also better than Omar's.

Shame that some can't wait to hurl abuse at PH. The early posters that did this should be ashamed and learn a lesson in decency.

Well I don't see the reason to compare, Omar is still young and the chances are he will get better and better.

Maybe if we play the ball on the deck more instead of lumping it down the channels half the time then he might even score more goals than the 10 league goals Omar has already contributed to our club already this season.

I had a go when we went 1 down not through panic but more through frustration and the will for us to win. I hate it when we lose and it pisses me off at work all week and on my days off and feel sorry for the partner when we lose lol but well done town good win lets get another run togther with a few more wins in it UTM

Two strikers out, tricky conditions, long trip....three points.....job more than done i would say. Jones sounded like he had something n his brief mentions on his brief cameo.

Back this up by smashing Welling on Saturday hopefully.

I noticed a couple of posters on this thread that was giving it grief when we went one down and even when we equalised.  They didn't post again to praise our team for a good performance in the second half, lets be honest, in terrible windy conditions. Well done town on a good result against a team that had only lost one game at home this season. Bring on Welling, let's have another three points on Saturday.

What a great result. From 0-1 down again. Away. At Barrow.  How may times have we come back from a goal deficit this season.?

And. 33 pages on a non league match thread. You gotta love Fishy posters. Feck knows how long these threads will get if we ever get to play some league opposition.

I love the Fishy. Especially on nights like tonight.  You've got the Hurst ins, the Hurst outs. The holier than thous. The total doom mongers. It's ace.

I listened to the commentary and I must say they were not biased to Barrow far from it and it sounded like Gowling and Townsend played a blinder really, full marks to the team and the fans - we heard you!- and Podge for bagging another brace - whats that 12 league and 2 cup goals - with OB with 10 - things looking good right now! How the intercourse can we concede direct from a corner?

Talented players average manager - Another year in this league!

Obviously not so talented players if they can't defend a corner!!
