Big game today, herre's hoping for a good solid performance on what sounds like a heavy and sanded pitch.

Come on you mighty Mariners.

pitch to blame for that possibly?
Posted by: moosey_club, January 9, 2016, 3:30pm; Reply: 10
possibly.....but listening it is quite noticeable that phrases such as...beats his man, takes his man on, goes by his man, etc are not used at all. Thats something we have lacked of late.
Posted by: zorro_is_a_Mariner, January 9, 2016, 3:33pm; Reply: 11
We do i always say we get our crosses in to early when it would be better if arnold took his man on a bit like marshall last week

Good save from bogle shot
Posted by: BeijingMariner, January 9, 2016, 3:34pm; Reply: 13
yeah it would make sense if what we are doing is more passing than trying to beat the man in front, that would explain the pitches part in this so far. you think maybe last week sapped a bit of confidence away? I think once we get a goal we should crack on
Posted by: promotion plaice, January 9, 2016, 3:34pm; Reply: 14

That sounded close from Bogle, Town knocking on the door.

Cheltenham Town fans miss kick-off after double-decker bus breaks down on the way to Boreham Wood...... ;D

Appreciate heavy pitches can dictate how we play but would like see Arnold running at players, he has good pace and defenders at any level do not like that.  We do not seem to be dragging derfenders around at the minute.

In Podge and Omar we have great movement up front but are not making the most of it when teams put 7 or 8 behind the ball.

agreed, I think our lot need to be more bullying on the ball, really run at people all the time and get in their faces

Half time 0-0.

Town have had the better off the half and should be winning.  Need an early goal in the second half to settle us down.

Had a couple of one on ones which their keeper has stopped and Town hve got better as the half progressed.

Man City are the top scorers in the Prema Donna League
They scored 39, let 21 in and therefore have a GD of 18
Grimsby Town, however have scored 54, let in 22 and have a GD of 32
We have scored more goals than any other team in the top 5 tiers of English football
Cheltenham 2nd with 53
Peterborough are next with 52

makes awesome reading......and whos 22nd lol

There are a few teams at the top of that table who are on good form really, to only be a few points up on a few teams after the run we have been on is quite surprising.  Just goes to show the standard we need to hit and keep.

I would be interested to know how serious the injury of Downes is. 4th top scorer, most capped player and their captain. Most Cheltnham fans have said that he is their most important player as well.

I would never wish injury on a player, but I think it's ok to hope his absence is a big problem for them.

A great performance Town/Amond after a difficult week.  I had to be in the centre of York. Podge scored 3 goals whilst I was travelling 3 miles home!  (This might be my penance for every game now).

Cheltenham dropping 2 points, and losing their captain to an injury, is also great news. They must be worried that we do not go away.   Still a long way to go.

Makes the Guiseley draw all the more galling but that's gone now. To be on the run we have over 8 games and only claw back 2 points is incredible. Important thing is- as good as they have been, we haven't let them get completely away.

a very honest Gary Johnson. Let's hope your team stays this way, mate

I know that this Notts County speculation has raised the question re Hurst's contract but surely we need to be doing our utmost to tie Podge down with a longer contract??

"Twelve corners to their one and we could not make it count, full timers (who were rested) playing part timers, struggling to score goals against lesser teams, now injuries to players starting to mount up. Are the wheels starting to come off our wagon."

That's a decent point - they must be wondering how the hell they've not shaken us off with the run they've been on.

Gutted we have a meaningless game in the Mickey Mouse trophy next week instead of being able to push on in the league.

This is the time of the season when involvement in the trophy really starts to become a problem and takes the impetus away from our push for promotion.

Fantastic win today,  so proud to be a Mariner!!!

the posting member (ooer) on the Chelts forum joined their forum in 2009 so I am thinking it's probably not a fishy simply because of how long ago it was...?

We took more away fans all the way to Welling, than the total attendance at Boreham Wood today - where are the league leaders supporters? ;D
