Plus Villa will be happy that we've loaned a player from them and he's not even on the bench.

It's almost as if Slade is saying: "alright then you twits, you wanted an attacking side so here you fucking go, even if half the midfielders I've picked are James Berrett!"

4 strikers starting the game with no wingers. 2 more strikers on the bench along with 3 wingers. the bloke is clueless absolutely clueless

Don't get that if true. There's 2 wingers on the bench! Vernam described himself as a '10' (I think, it's hard to keep track of who's who), so why stick him out wide?

I joked on deadline day when we signed Jackson he would play 424 never thought he would be daft enough to do it. Well at least it increases his odds for his hoof and hope football landing near someone in a black and white top.

That's one weird looking team and just goes to show egghead's complete obliviousness to the main problem in that we haven't got a decent midfield. (and since he let the best ones go, an even worse one now)
Desperate stuff.  :D

I wonder whether his well-judged, warm and respectful tweet on Wednesday about Town and our fans runs too counter to the club's preferred approach to managing relationships with us all.

If thats the case its square pegs round holes.
4 defenders
2 midfielders
4 Strikers

There is only one possibilty 424.

From the GET..

Wilks and Jackson have already linked up a couple of times down the left and have looked dangerous.

It's the 17th permutation of possible striker combo's, and replacing signed players with loanees but maybe he's getting close to assembling a half decent front line ??)
Posted by: MarinersOnTheUp, February 3, 2018, 3:15pm; Reply: 38
Great start, really happy with that. Come on Town!

If we win though let's not pretend it makes everything ok as a win today would improve our points tally and paper over the giant crevasses, that's all. Wouldn't change the fact that we need change, especially off the pitch.

It's like any company. If the company is successful and delivering what they should be to customers then nobody cares what is going on behind the scenes. When it's not successful the customers and the shareholders begin asking why and what can be changed.

Wilks wins the ball in his own box and runs round the attacker and sprints to halfway with the ball at his feet. His acceleration this afternoon has been exceptional - he’s so quick!

Get a goal, sit back and hope we can defend the lead. Those dinosaur tactics hardly ever work in league football. Teams will just tire you out and wait for an opportunity to break a defence down from a set piece.

Squeaky bum time because a loss will look way worse than a draw even if both are points lost.

What a pile of dross 2nd half sat so deep the chair didn't have a bottom to it. Why sit back and let them launch it into the box when tthey have a team of skill free giants and we only have 3 players ovver 6 foot. Our front 2 left isolated so every BOOM half cleared landed at Cheltenham feet. Young Mallik looked decent, but again we hardly tested their keeper despite 4 forwards on the pitch
Last 5 both teams came close to winning but the number of shots headers we scrambled off the line during the game was scary  4 points from 33 >:(

Did not deserve to win, yet could have won had Matt not smashed a shot over the bar from close in when faced with only the keeper to beat. Could have rolled it into the corner. Summed up a poor day for him. You can see Jackson is a penalty box striker. Gets in good positions and was unlucky not to make contact with a couple of crosses which flashed across the face of the goal Wilks looks a handy player too. We struggled in midfield where Summerfield was overworked and Berret was never in the game. Cheltenham are just a tall physical side who rely on set plays and high balls into the box which they are good at and put us under pressure for most of the second half. Thought  young Killip did well today.

Exactly what we said. Same with Dembele. Why do they always try and smash it into the net? Both chances could have been rolled into the corner, but i suppose that is why they are at this level.
