Town as expected named an unchanged line-up.

Henderson was called into action early on when he brilliantly tipped Cochrane's snap shot over the bar.

After a slow start Town had their first chance when a poor kick by Jaimez-Ruiz went straight to Conlon, but he was unable to get a shot on target.

Wayne Henderson was again Town's saviour when he came off his line and gloved the ball around the post in a one on one with Hudson.

Town improved in difficult conditions with as the game progressed, with Hegarty and Sweeney having chances, but Aldershot shaded the first half, although neither side was able to find the net.

Early in the second half Atkinson cleared a shot off the line by Blackburn.

Not long after Peter Bore struck the cross bar after a brilliant first touch.

With 10 minutes to go the assisstant referee gave a penalty for a pull in the box by Charles. Conlon stepped up to take the spot kick and give the Mariners the lead.

Town got the ball in the net a minute later when Proudlock passed the ball to Hegarty for a tap in but the goal was disallowed for a foul by Proudlock.

Town were given four minutes of injury time to sweat through, and Henderson again made a smart save to keep Grimsby in the game.

Town hung on to pick up three precious points in a very scrappy game.
