Town started as expected with North and Forbes up front.

In a first half of few chances neither side really treatened the goal. Lillis had to make one save low down by the post. The main talking points were several dubious decisions by the match officials.

The second half followed a similar pattern with few chances. With 15 minutes to go North was put through with the 'keeper to it but failed to trouble the Hereford goal.

With 3 minutes to go and a 0-0 draw looking likely, Danny North received the ball in what looked like an offside position. The linesman did not put up his flag, and North scored to give Town a 1-0 lead.

Grimsby hung on to record a valuable win in a poor game.
