Leary started in place of the injured Sinclair.
After 7 minutes Leary was knocked out after a bad challenge. Akpro came on with Peacock moving back into midfield.
After an opening 15 minutes when Macclesfield dominated, Town finally had an attack of not after 15 mins and won a corner.
On 30 minutes Widdowson made a great run and crossed to Wright, whose shot went just wide.
Macclesfield though continued to be a threat and Butcher had a shot which went just over the bar.
5 minutes before half time the ball came to Devitt on the edge of the box. He played the ball from one foot to the other and rifled it into the net.
A few minutes later Devitt made a terrific run down the right but his cross just eluded the onrushing forwards.
The first half finished 1-0 to the Mariners.
On the hour mark Butcher blasted a free kick into the top corner to level the game.
10 minutes later Akpro broke free and his shot was well saved and then cleared. Colgan then made a great save to deny Macclesfield after the Silkmen broke.
With 10 minutes to go Akpro did well to get into a scoring position and then mishit the ball in the penalty area.
In injury time Nathan Jarman received a straight red card for raising his hands in a Macclesfield player's face.
The match fizzled out with Macclesfield looking the most likely winners.
