Linwood continued in the back four in place of Lancashire. Hegarty, Leary and Wright all came into the side.

Town got off to a shaky start but managed to survive the first 10 minutes. Colgan was needed to save at point blank range from Drummond in early play.

Morecambe went on to dominate the first half and Colgan was needed on 35 minutes to make a great save from Wilson.

On 37 minutes Mark Hudson came on for the injured Lee Peacock.

The one way traffic continued and Mullen finally broke the deadlock a few minutes before half time. Hackney found space on the left hand side and crossed for Mullin to nod in from close range.

Akpa Akpro then blazed over an open goal from three yards after good work by Coulson and a mishit shot by Hegarty which bounced into his path.

The only good thing about the first half was that it ended only 0-1.

Early in the second half Mullen hit the bar and Colgan was lucky to save at the second attempt.

Town equalised totally against the run of play when Widdowsongot to the byeline and crossed for Coulson to slot it.

The goal buoyed Grimsby who for the first time in the game began to look dangerous.

After a mini spell for Town Morecambe came close though Mullin but his shot went just wide.

Town had plenty of chances in the closing minutes but had to settle for a draw.
