Just In: FT: Rochdale 4 Grimsby 1

Chambers started up front which meant Akpro played on the right. Lancashire only began on the bench.

Rochdale had a couple of early corners and Thompson had free headers on both occasions.

After 5 minutes a 40 yard long throw by Stirling led to a corner, which came to nothing.

Colgan saved the Mariners at the near post from Dagnall after the Town defensive were caught napping.

On 17 minutes the unchallenged Thompson headed a cross in to give Rochdale the lead.

Two minutes later Stirling hesitated and Rochdale added a second through Dagnall.

Town continued to be put under the cosh and the Mariners continued to look vulnerable at corners.

Rochdale cut through the defense one again and crossed to Dagnall to score his second.

On the stroke of half time Town grabbed a goal back against the run of play. Akpro headed back to Chambers who scored from close range.

3 minutes of injury time were added and Rochdale continued to dominate.

Stirling played Dagnell onside but the striker hit his shot wide, for what would have been his hat trick.

Early in the second half Akpro went close with a spectacular overhead kick from a Stirling throw which just went over.

With Rochdale looking comfortable Akpro then set up Coulson who forced a good save out of Fielding.

In the last minute of normal time a slip by Atkinson allowed Dagnell to roll the ball round the 'keeper for a hat trick.

Full time was 4-1 to Dale, a comfortable win.
