Town started with an unchanged line-up. Sweeney started on the bench.

Benyon had a great early chance from Torquay but miskicked from six yards out, and then almost scored from the ensuing corner.

Both Torquay received yellow cards in the first quarter of the game when they could have been red.

Sweeney replaced Dean Sinclair who had a hamstring injury.

The first half ended 0-0 with Torquay having had the better of things and no chances of note for Town.

On 54 Atkinson conceded a penalty, which the Gulls converted through Wroe.

Benyon added a second on 60 to more or less condemn Town to relegation.

After that it was academic and Carayol made it 3 on 71.
