Grimsby started with an unchanged line-up.

After 4 minutes Danny North was played through by a long ball from Nick Fenton, and chipped the ball over the 'keeper.

Macclesfield dominated the remainder of the first half, but could not get past Barnes who made one spectacular save from Evans.

Macclesfield continued to have most of the play in the second half and Evans turned in a free kick with 11 minutes to go.

Within two minutes Clarke volleyed a fantastic strike from a ball flicked to him in the box to restore the lead.

Grimsby hung on through a tense last few minutes and four minutes of injury time to record another win.
