Just In: FT: Grimsby 2 Kettering 1

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/01/2011 20:00

Kettering scored after 2 minutes when Flanagan was allowed to run right through the Town team and shoot past Arthur.

Town did not really threaten Kettering's goal until late in the first half when Connell struck the bar from a free kick. Shortly afterwards Kettering themselves hit the woodwork.

Town equalised on the stroke of half time. Atkinson headed an Eagle corner downwards on the far post.

Grimsby came back into the game after the restart. After 20 minutes Peter Bore on the break played a great cross field ball to Peacock who set up Eagle for a great finish.

Kettering almost scored straight after Town's second but missed from close range twice.

With 17 minutes to go Lee Peacock was sent off for a two-footed challenge.

Town clung on with some resolute defending to win 2-1.
