Lawless had an early chance for Luton when we was played through, beat his man and hit the side netting.

Luton dominated the first 20 minutes and went ahead with a controversial goal which Bradley Wood appeared to have cleared off the line, but the linesmen awarded it.

Luton went on to dominate the first half and Grimsby only had one moment of note, a shot from 20 yard by Eaagle which Tyler tipped round the post and smothered.

Grimsby did well to be only 1-0 down at half time.

Town improved early in the second half and Serges and Eagle both went close.

Grimsby continued to press and Connell clipped the top of the crossbar and in the last minute Eagle forced a terrific save from Tyler.

Town's second half performance was an improvement but Luton probably shaded it overall.
