Newport has the better of the first 45 mins but could not break the deadlock.

Things were closer after the break but Newport looked to have won it on 78 when Town conceded a penalty and Kempson was sent off for a professional foul.

However the penalty was hit low and more or less straight at McKeown, which he managed to save.
