Grimsby were the better of the two sides at the start of a game played in difficult blustery conditions. Town had most of the possession but eventually succumbed to a Newport counter-attack, after which they never recovered,
The introudction of Andy Cook at the start of the second half made no difference, despite the wind their favour.
Grimsby never looked like scoring and the game drifted away to a disappointing 0-1 defeat. Town lost 2-0 on aggregate and Newport will play Wales in the final. Live Scores
