Hatton had a good chance for Town in the early stages, then McAteer missed a good opportunity for the visitors. Sauunders then went close for Coalville.

A dull half ended 0-0.

The second half started on a bright note when Coalville nearly scored right at the start through Woodward but McKeown made a good save to deny him.

With 20 mins to go and the visitors looking the more likely to score Town finally broke the deadlock when Bignott set up Southwell who scored the opener.

5 minutes later Southwell added a second with his head, then in the dying staged Southwell claimed his hat trick with a deflected goal.

Town: McKeown; Hatton, Bignot, Doig, Humble; Thanoj, McLaughlin, Colbeck, Winfarrah; Southwell, Cook

Subs: Pearson, Neilson, Hannah, Walker, Charlesworth  Match Thread
