Scott Kerr returned after suspension to replace Andi Thanoj.
Alex Rodman scored a fantastic goal after 19 minutes, blasting it in from over 20 yards over the 'keeper.
McKeown kept Town in the game with a top class save to deny Bell's header.
Both sides had chances in the second half, but Grimsby held on for another 1-0 win.
