Handyside Contract Hint

Peter Handyside indicated today that he would like to sign another contract with the Mariners but his decision will rest on the terms that are offered to him. Handyside, who has been with Grimsby Town for the last 10 years, is rated by many as one of the best defenders in the football league.

Before his ankle injury last season many clubs were showing an interest in him but since then no offers have been made as it is only recently that he regained his match fitness. His defensive pairing with Richard Smith was voted the best defensive lineup on the Fishy's poll recently.

"The gaffer has said there will be some sort of contract offer and it's a case of waiting to see," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "The main thing is that it's right for my family."

"I've been here 10 years and of course I'm not getting any younger, so the offer certainly has got to be right. It's something for me and my family to discuss."

"I can't imagine there's been any interest at the moment because I haven't been playing."
