Reasons for Resignations
By: Bryan Huxford

After the shock resignation of chairman Doug Everitt, vice chairman Bryan Huxford and director Richard Lake yesterday. The Fishy asked Bryan the reasons his resignation and what the future now holds for the club. In this exclusive response to the Fishy, He explains his decision.
Things change people move on sometime under circumstance that is difficult for those mostly effected to understand.
Yesterdays Board Room events fall into the above category.
I had for sometime known that certain members of the Board wanted me to take over from Mr. Everitt as Chairman of GTFC, not I might add for any apparent failure by the Chairman, but for what I can only describe as personnel differences, I had and still have great admiration for Mr. Everitt a man of integrity, strong character, high business acumen and a nice man, how and why should I want to stab him in the back, it is not my way.
Infighting is something that I have shouted from the roof tops ever since I became involved in the business I have said it is fatally damaging, silly personal differences, bickering and "I have the power do as I say or go" is no way to run a business.
Commercial disagreements happen in business, it is good for a business that differing points of view are given, listened to and then agreed upon with commitment, even though they may not adhere to individual wishes. Democracy was built upon such a foundation.
I fully understand that over the coming weeks, that the knives will be out for me and the blame for all that happens in the coming weeks will be laid at my door. People will only believe what they want to believe, I will just say this, I resigned purely as a result of a thwarted attempt to remove the Chairman, not because of any financial difficulty at GTFC. They where all under control. I hope they still are, certainly one remaining Board member will have to put his hand in his pocket if only to repay my paltry loan to the Club.
To your readers I say Grimsby Town FC is bigger then any individual, but it is not and never can be bigger than its supporters and staff. Lose them and you lose the "Game"
Bryan
