Nicholls Loan Extension

News From 29th March 2000

Mark Nicholls Chelsea have accepted an extension to increase striker Mark Nicholls' loan from the London club to Town until the end of the season, for what, on paper, looks a fairly tough run-in for the Mariners.

Nicholls arrived from Chelsea just over a month ago for an initial month's loan. But with Buckley's doubts about the fitness and availability of most of his first-choice strikers, the Town boss thought it wise to extend Nicholls' loan.

The complicated transfer deadline rules allow players on existing loans to have the loan extended, but no new loans are allowed to be instigated.

The competition up front for on Saturday's match against Huddersfield at Blundell Park is boosted with the news that hopefully both Bradley Allen and Lee Ashcroft will be available for selection, allowing Buckley to choose any two from Allen, Ashcroft, Nicholls and Daryl Clare.
