Wolves 2nd Half

By: Jeremy Baily
Date: 22/11/2000

Toilet talk seemed to put the blame on Groves, Donovan and Murray, with most also stating how much we missed Coldicott's bite in midfield. Groves was not commanding at the back it must be said, Donovan was posted missing, assumed dead and Murray, who started industriously faded badly.

It was also true no one was braking up Wolves play making, like Coldicott tries to do.

The Chicken Balti Pie was great, that was the only half-time ent's!

Coldicott and Burnett came on for Murray and D Smith for the second half, everyone seemed pleased.

We started where we left off, Wolves carving a great hole in the middle of our defence, straight from the kick-off Emblem burst through and could have scored, luckily his well hit shot skidded just wide of Coyne's left hand post.

We than had our best (and only) 10 minutes, Coldicott harassed and chased, Burnett began orchestrating things and Campbell looked even more lively, Donovan stayed the same. Livvo had a goal bound header pushed over for a corner, his header from that hit the crossbar and we had hope. Nielson was like a leveret, haring about, but never with the ball, one could say he was Lever-et, which I believe is a lanky showgirl dancer. Livvo was like an old Knight-errant, looking for adventure, sadly he looked in offside positions and about 5 or 6 good moves were stopped because of this. One such move got him booked, blown for offside he lamped the ball goalwards in petulance, silly Livvo.

The game then just petered out, Burnett miss-timed a flying tackle and was rightly booked by the ref, who on the whole had a good game and was more invisible than Donovan.

Nielson treated us to one well-hit center and a touch of class, when he pirouetted a Wolves defender into the ground, like a corkscrew twists into the cork of a good Australian Chardonnay.

And then it was over, we are now 4th from batty!

Our defensive formation was a joke and it didn't work from the first minute to the last, Coldicott and Burnett added some much needed steel in midfield, but we still produced nothing up front, the ball coming back at us non-stop, the defence had no rest all evening, individually I will not arraign anyone, well apart from Donovan maybe, who did very little anywhere on the park
