As revealed by The Fishy last month, Crystal Palace manager Alan Smith looks set to complete the signing of Chinese defender Zhang Enhua this week. Tbe news has been confirmed by the London club tonight, after Palace Chief Executive Phil Alexander returned from talks in China.

Zhang, who is currently on-loan with the Mariners is expected to be one of three Chinese signings for the Eagles. Smith has flown out to Italy in an attempt to clinch the deal, which will see Zhang, Li Ming and Sun Jihai team up with fellow Chinese international defender Fan Zhiyi (pictured).

The Chinese national squad is currently preparing for a friendly against Lazio in Rome on Tuesday evening, and it is widely expected that Palace officials will secure the trio of signatures after the game, although Zhang will remain under contract with the Mariners until April.
