Paul Groves Reveals His Interest In John Oster

PAUL GROVES has revealed that he was negotiating with John Oster to bring him back to Blundell Park, but an injury sustained while playing for Sunderland Reserves has sidelined the former Town winger, who will be out for the rest of the season.

He was taken off the field by stretcher and it is now confirmed that cruciate and medial damage which will sideline him for up to six months.

Oster, who left Blundell Park for £1.5million to join Everton in 1997, was on the point of of rejoining Grimsby Town manager Paul Groves had got as far as discussing terms with his agent.

But today Groves admitted that the injury has brought an end to the negotiations and said: "We were going down that route but John got injured and there's nothing we can do but wish him all the best."
